I thought that on the coldest day of the year I would send out some information about this year's 2020 Beyond The Notes Music Festival! The month of May sounds great right now, doesn't it?

This year's festival is going to be fantastic!

• 101 performing ensembles
• 19 clinicians
• 30 music education majors
• 4,000 + young musicians

This newsletter will give you some basic information to start your planning and preparations.

The schedule is a Google Sheet meaning that it will be updated periodically. You will notice that the schedule has your homeroom location and clinician listed already.

All groups (except the side-by-side bands) will have 30 minutes to set-up and perform. These ensembles usually perform up to three to four pieces of literature. Groups doing the side-by-side clinics (bands Thursday afternoon and Friday) will have 40 minutes for their performance and clinic experience. Typically these groups perform one or at most two pieces.

Student Fee - $30 (includes Waterpark/Adventure Park Pass & Pizza)

Staying Overnight?

Hotel Room = $108 (quad occupancy means $27 per student)

Pizza Cost = $9 per student (optional)

Breakfast Cost = $10 per student (optional)

Total = $46 per student with breakfast and lunch/dinner

Other: Security Guard Fee: $120

By Friday, February 28 –Detailed information about this year's festival sent out. Online Registration Opens. This is where you will register waterpark/adventure passes, lunch tickets, breakfast tickets, hotel room assignments, score pdfs, group photo, etc

Monday, March 2 – 2021 Beyond The Notes Music Festival application opens at 8:30 PM on the BTN Website. NOTE the application will open in the evening instead of the morning! The festival dates are May 26-27-28, 2021 (Wed-Fri). Watch for more information coming out soon!

Wednesday, April 8 - Registration Deadline for this year’s festival.

Wednesday, April 22 - Payment needs to be postmarked by this day.

• If you know the literature you will be performing you can scan the scores.
• Find time to take a group photo. If possible, use a good quality camera with the setting on “fine” or “best quality.” Typically photos taken with a cell phone/tablet will not be high enough in quality....but do the best you can!
• Those staying over can start creating rooming assignments. I will need to know the names of everyone staying overnight organized by rooms (quad occupancy).
