Patriot's Pointe
January 8 - January 12 Vol. 2 Edition 20
Happy Sunday Patriot Families!
Greetings Patriot Families,
We had a successful turnout last week for our AP/IB/Electives Night! Our families had the chance to interact with the academic and elective programs we offer at Sandy Creek and were provided with an update regarding our progress. We are pleased to announce that Sandy Creek High School has improved our College and Career Performance Indicators (CCRPI) from a 77.3 to an 80.4! This puts our school in the Top 100 High Schools in the State of Georgia and categorizes us as a "B" school. We are proud of the commitment from our teachers, counselors, and students who have all made our success possible.
Progress Reports for the 4.5 grading period will be available in Infinite Campus on Wednesday, February 5, 2024. Parents please check Infinite Campus and review your student's grades. Notifications regarding failing and missing assignments are sent out weekly through Infinite Campus so please partner with us to keep your student on track for graduation and earning credits for each grade level classification.
We will celebrate our Varsity Girls and Boys Basketball teams on Friday, February 9, 2024 for Senior Night. Please plan to join us for our final regular season home game before we begin our playoff run! Our Girls Soccer team is off to a great start winning 4-2 Friday night on the road agonist Rockdale High School. Our boys Soccer team had a great showing against Rockdale ending the match in a tie 2-2. Sandy Creek has five wrestlers who are moving on to Sectionals to qualify for State Competition. We are excited to announce that Aryn Parker, Danelle Young, and Daliliah Johnson are all moving on to the State Competition in the Griffin RESA Science Fair and will represent Fayette County and Sandy Creek High School well. Additionally, Glory Fortuchang, Zariya Johnson, and Gabrielle Ferguson are moving on to the state level to compete for Governor's Honors!
We are excited to support our students in their academic endeavors while providing them with a competitive advantage!

PTSO
Did you know that your gently worn sneakers could help The Sandy Creek High School PTSO support even more students, faculty and staff?
Well, they can and here’s how…Our team is participating in a fundraiser where there is nothing to buy or sell; All we need is your support and your gently worn, used, or new sneakers!
Here’s how you can help:
As the seasons change and you clean out/organize your closets, gather as many pairs of sneakers that you no longer want; maybe you’ve out-grown them, they’re out of style, or out of season. If you and your household have 20 pairs, great! If not, don’t worry. You can ask your neighbors, friends, co-workers, and anyone in your social networks to help out. Every pair counts! The Sandy Creek High School PTSO will be collecting sneakers from December through February. Collections bins will be located in the front office.
The sneakers that we all collect will help raise money to support our program AND will help our environment by keeping sneakers out of landfills.
Can we count on you?

This scholarship is for seniors who plan to major in Anthropology, Philosophy, Creative writing, African Studies, or any other area of the humanities.
This scholarship is for any female high school senior in the metro Atlanta area who wants to pursue higher education at a 4 year college or university.
On behalf of the Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) Office for Educational Outreach and Health Careers and as a part of the Health Careers Opportunity Program, we would like to cordially invite your students to the 10th Annual First Look: Health T.E.A.M. (Teaching Exposing and Mentoring) Program to be held on Saturday, February, 10, 2024 from 8:30am-4:30pm in the National Center for Primary Care (NCPC) Building on the MSM main campus (720 Westview Drive, Atlanta, GA 30310). First Look Health T.E.A.M. seeks to expose high school students within the Atlanta area to a variety of careers in the health professions, as well as providing guidance on preparation for college application and matriculation, and how to finance school through workshops and interactive exercises. Health professionals will serve as invited panel speakers to allow students an opportunity to gain insight into their journey to pursue their health careers, as well as day-to-day work life.
This is an invaluable opportunity for any high school student who has considered the health professions, as well as collegiate application. Students will also engage with medical, graduate and undergraduate students to gain a perspective of their educational path to their careers. The event is free, but registration is required. Registration will be open until Tuesday, February 6, 2024 or will close sooner if capacity is reached.
Please have students who are interested in participating register at the following link: https://forms.gle/fXXsDPpuZoAErCLo9
After students have completed registration, there will be follow-up communication regarding consent forms. Consent forms in addition to registration forms are mandatory for attendance.

The Campus Parent portal is your source for student and family records, including household and individual contact information, attendance, school-based fees, academic planning (high school), forms, and report cards. The Parent portal also provides access to the GaDOE SLDS Portal. Please set up the parent Infinite Campus account first. The same username will be shared with Schoology to set up your parent account in Schoology. Because each login reflects the person associated with the username, it is recommended that a separate account is created for each parent.
- Usernames can be comprised of letters, numbers, the underscore, and dash.
- Please refrain from creating a username that is all numbers, as that will interfere with student data here in our district.
- After completing the setup of your parent portal account, please allow 24 hours for your new account information to be sent to Schoology before attempting to log into your Schoology parent account.
