Parents/Guardians, Staff, & Students,
All of our Ellicott staff members miss seeing our students engaged in learning, playing, and thriving. The situation we find ourselves in will require our Ellicott family to be united, separately. Cancelling of schools is a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19 from moving more quickly around the state. If the need arises to further close schools or adjust school schedules, we will communicate to parents/guardians and the community as soon as informed decisions are made. Our goal is to keep families well informed, not incite panic.
In the meantime, it is important to take the CDC recommended actions outlined below. We are urging families to follow social distancing practices and limit interactions with those outside your household. Please also keep in mind that you may be carrying the illness even if you aren't showing symptoms. If you are sick, follow the procedures outlined by the state and your medical provider. We are in this together, as an Ellicott family.
One thing you can do is complete your 2020 US Census! Money is allocated through the Census for things like public health, education, and first responders. Go to our Census page for more information!
E-Learning Plan
We will be dedicating a part of our website to the e-learning plan that will be activated on March 31st. The website contains:
- where students can get their assignments
- staff contact information
- staff office hour times and access links
- attendance policy
Please review the website daily at 8am.
Staff will also be contacting each Ellicott student's family between March 30th and April 2nd to check in and see what supports we can offer.
If you don't have internet access at home, many companies are offering free subscriptions during the outbreak. For elementary families, we are working on gathering information about access to technology and planning how we can support families that don't have devices at home.
Current Health Precautions
District leadership has been working closely with El Paso County and Colorado State officials to ensure that plans are in place if the situation in our state, county, or community worsens.
At this time the district is taking the following additional actions:
- All buildings and buses are undergoing another deep clean starting March 19th.
- Staff, student, or community entry will not be permitted to any district facilities without superintendent approval.
We will also be updating our webpage dedicated to our coronavirus response as we address the needs of the situation, and our Facebook page.
Meal Options for Students & Families
During the closure of our schools, support in providing food for children is available from the Eastern Plains Community Pantry at 701 4th Street, in Calhan. Just drive up to pick up a box of food that should last for 3 days. Additional assistance may be available as conditions develop. Click HERE for more hours of operation and a map.
Pikes Peak School Meal Pickups
Several districts in the area are offering free meals to students age 18 and under during the shutdown. For a map of all the locations and their hours, click HERE.
