Menstrual Cycle

The monthly cycle of changes in your ovaries and the lining of the uterus.

Symptoms include, upset stomach, appetite changes, headache, sudden mood changes.

Four Stages of the Menstrual Cycle

Menstruation, the elimination of thickening linings in the uterus from the body through the vagina.

The Follicular Phase, starts on the first day of menstruation and ends with ovulation, it releases follicle stimulatiing hormone.

Ovulation, release of a mature egg from the surface of the ovary.

The Luteal Phase, the fertilised egg implants in the lining of the uterus and the egg bursts into follicles.

Causes are problems with the reproductive system, and possibly pregnancy.

Symptoms Include, hair loss, headache, vision changes.


Painful menstruation

Causes include right before the menstrual period starts, or it could be a problem with the uterus or other pelvic problem, and also contracting in the uterus.

Symptoms Include, pain in hips, thighs, lower back, upset stomach.

Premenstrual Syndrome

physical and emotional symptoms before a womans period starts.

Symptoms include depressed mood, headache, vomitting, appetite change.


occuring in last 12 months after your last menstrual cycle, occurs in all women between 40-50. Sometimes later depending on many things.

It's a natural process, it marks the end of your menstrual cycle.

Symptoms Include Irregular periods, vaginal dryness, hot flashes, and night sweats.
