NOVEMBER 2023: COMMUNICATION FOR OUR COYOTE FAMILIES
NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL LECOUNT
Dear Coyote Community,
I hope this letter finds you and your family in good health and high spirits. As we transition into the month of November, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and dedication to our school community.
Your trust in us as educators and your active involvement in your child's education have been instrumental in fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment. It is through your encouragement, collaboration, and partnership that we continue to strive for excellence, both academically and in character development.
The bond between home and school is a powerful one, and it's your commitment that makes our school such a special place. As November unfolds and our temperature starts to cool off, let us embrace this time to reflect on the many blessings in our lives, the most precious of which are our children. May this month be filled with warmth, gratitude, and moments of togetherness.
Once again, thank you for being an integral part of our school family. Your support means the world to us, and we are honored to have you as partners in the education of our students.
With Coyote Pride,
Mrs. LeCount

We’ve had another successful staff luncheon in October.
PTA wants to thank all the Coyote families for providing the delicious food for the luncheon.
Also, a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped put this luncheon together. RM, you rock!
Our next parent-sponsored luncheon will be in January. So stay tuned for ways to help.
Our November Staff Luncheon Sponsor is one of our very own Coyote parents, Monte Miner!
Thank you, Mr. Miner, for your generous donation!
Boosterthon update
Boosterthon was a huge success-- our goal was to raise $35,000 for DC. We met and surpassed our goal with a final total of $36,066!! We will continue to see funds from corporate matches trickle in as well. Thank you for your efforts and contributions! We are grateful to the Booster team and the tremendous work they did to help us reach our goal.

Gifted & Talented Corner
It has been a GREAT start to the second quarter! Thank you to all of the families that were able to attend conferences! Conferences are always a great time to visit and celebrate your child’s accomplishments!
What’s Coming Up?
4TH GRADE UNIVERSAL GIFTED TESTING:
For the first time, DVUSD, we will be administering gifted testing to ALL 4th grade students! If your child is already qualified we would still like for them to take the test. If previously tested they took the CogAt and in November we will be administering the NGAT (Naglieri General Abilities Test). Your child’s higher score will override a lower one, so they are not jeopardized in any way when taking the NGAT. Fourth grade teachers sent home information about the test, however if you did not receive it please reach out to your child’s teacher. If you do not want your child tested YOU will have to opt them out of the test by NOVEMBER 3 or they will be REQUIRED to test. As we get closer to the testing window of November 27 - December 8 we will let you know so your child comes prepared for testing days.
PARENT SEMINAR #4: EMOTIONAL REGULATION AND THE GIFTED LEARNER Gifted learners often experience intense emotions. Join Dr. Dawn Byrd for an in-depth discussion about emotional regulation and supporting the emotional intensities commonly associated with gifted learners. Parents will walk away with a broader understanding and strategies to support their child at home.
Following Dr. Byrd's presentation, parents are welcome to participate in a Q&A discussion about Deer Valley's Gifted Programs with Dr. Aimee Sulit (Manager of Gifted & Advanced Academics).
Date/ Time: November 16, 2023 (6:00 - 7:00 p.m.) Location: Las Brisas Elementary - Library

Wednesday, February 7th @ 5:30
Link to all DVUSD trainings: https://www.dvusd.org/Page/30646
A volunteer is someone who donates time in schools or with students on a regular or reoccurring basis, or who serves as a chaperone. If you are attending or volunteering at a class party, or school event ie: Boosterthon, you DO NOT need the volunteer training.
Once you are trained, you are good to volunteer for the remainder of time your students are in DVUSD. Yearly paperwork will need to be updated in the front office each year.
AZ Tax Credits
School tax credits are a win-win for students and taxpayers! Making a donation is easy: Donate using the link below, keep your receipt and claim your tax credit when you file! Every dollar reduces your tax liability dollar for dollar. Taxpayers can donate up to $200 for an individual and $400 for a married couple.
Diamond Canyon students are blessed to participate in a few out of state field trips in 2023-2024. This year our 6th grade students are heading to Camp Surf in California for science learning and our Choir is heading to Disneyland to compete in a national competition. Your tax credit donations help make the trip more affordable for all and also help our school offer scholarships for those that need it to attend.
https://az-deervalley.intouchreceipting.com/ Please choose: Diamond Canyon School. If you would like to fund a student scholarship for out of state travel please choose either Choir, Camp Surf or General Tax Credit. We also have athletics, leadership groups, etc. you can donate to as well.
