Conrad Newsletter
November 2019
What's happening this month...
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Well, here we are in November already! I love this time of year because I get to bake and eat all kinds of goodies. My favorite part of the holidays is the food! I also try to be mindful of the many things I am thankful for. I want you all to know how thankful we are at Conrad for the amazing parents we have supporting our students and us. Thank you!
We had an amazing end to October with our indoor pumpkin patch, costume parades, and classroom parties. The children were so fun to watch during these events. Their smiles were contagious and every adult who interacted with them just loved every moment! Thank you to those of you who helped carry pumpkins in the cold/snow and set up the indoor pumpkin patch. Also, thank you to Walmart for donating those perfect pumpkins and our PTO President Danielle Leftridge for delivering and organizing everything.
This Friday, Nov. 8th, is our next PTO meeting from 8:30-9:30 in the conference room. Our PTO has organized the Fun Pasta fundraiser that is currently running and orders can be placed online anywhere in the nation. The pasta would make fun gifts for families and friends.
www.funpastafundraising.com/sh…/conrad-early-learning-centerAnother event that we will be participating in this month is the District 8 Food Drive. There is a school pantry in our district and we are committed to serving those who are in immediate need of food in our district. In order to do so, we must fill the shelves of the pantry! The Food Pantry services all staff and students in D8. To participate, we will be collecting the items assigned below. Please ensure the items are not expired and non-perishable.
It seems these next two months will fly by with the different holiday observances and events that are planned. Next Monday, 11th, District 8 will be closed in observance of Veteran’s Day. Then the following week on Friday, November 22nd, you all are invited to attend our annual Turkey Apple Craft in the classrooms. We will observe Thanksgiving Break the week of November 25th-29th. When students return in December, we have more events planned and we look forward to seeing you around the building!
You may hear your child talk about the different safety and security drills we practice at Conrad. Each month with each session (a.m./p.m.), we practice either a shelter, evacuation, lockout, lockdown, or hold drill. These drills are part of the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) from the I Love U Guys Foundation and are common practice in all D8 schools. If you would like additional information regarding SRP, you can find it at https://iloveuguys.org/srp.html. The students have done a fantastic job of responding with these drills.
In regards to the continued efforts to ensure safety in the parking lot, please remember to drive slowly, watch for people in the crosswalks, and it would be helpful if parking spots were first filled at the west side then throughout to the east. This would allow everyone the opportunity to find parking spots more easily when they drive into the parking lot. I thank you for your continued efforts!
Remember to check your emails and Conrad’s Facebook site for additional information that may be communicated throughout the month. Thank you for all of your support and generosity.
Kindly,
Stephanie Lee

Great News! Conrad Early Learning Center is fundraising with Fun Pasta Fundraising!
We’re raising money to apply towards the purchase of an Owl Mascot costume for our school and our goal for each student is to sell at least 10 bags!
The pasta selection is affordable and selling is fun and simple. And best of all, our group will earn 40% profit! Think of all the gifts you could knock out just by ordering a couple bags of pasta!
What is Fun Pasta?
Fun Pasta is pasta shaped like the holidays, sports, collegiate team logos, and more. The BEST part about this fundraiser is that it is entirely online! This means every one of your family members and friends across the country can help support your little one and our school’s fundraising efforts.
How can you help?
SHARE our Webpage Link on Facebook, Twitter, and Email!
Out-of-town relatives and friends can now order directly from the company, it gets shipped directly to them and WE GET THE CREDIT! 40% of these sales go directly to us! (excludes shipping cost). There is a flat rate shipping charge of $6.95, but they ship within a couple of days, and our relatives can easily support our group! If they order $55.00 or more then shipping is FREE!

Weather and Recess
Please dress your child for the weather (hat, gloves, jacket/coat as weather appropriate) each day.
Please encourage your child to wear shoes with slip resistant soles so they can use the ladder and the “up” slide safely.
Conrad ELC utilizes the Child Care Weather Watch Guidelines provided by the Colorado Office of Early Childhood to determine indoor or outdoor recess
• Temperature and wind speed are used to provide three categories of safety
• Green zone- It is safe to be outdoors for the full 30 minute recess time
• Yellow zone- The teacher should use discretion in determining the amount of time a child should be outside. Recess will likely be shorter, but we do try to go outside for a few minutes.
• Red zone-Recess occurs indoors. We do not take children outside for recess.
