St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 7 | 31 AUGUST 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,
A huge thank you, to the P&F and all the mothers who organised the Father’s Day Breakfast yesterday. It was wonderful to see so many of the fathers attending, mingling, and talking with each other and at the same time enjoying ‘Father Time’ with their children. There was a great atmosphere and sense of enjoyment from all concerned.
Next week we have our Open Night on Thursday 7 September, and classrooms will be open for family visits from 5:30pm until 7:00pm. All families are invited to attend. There will be food vans and an ice-cream van onsite.
A reminder to families that there are still outstanding school fees. Please finalise prior to the end of this term or advise the office of your payment plan for the remainder of the year.
Some of our Year 4, 5 and 6 students attended the regional Spelling Bee yesterday and were
wonderful representatives for our school. Many thanks to Mr Yock for organising. We took out both the Year 4 and 5 competitions - a credit to our students!
The Student Representative Council met this week and I then met with the Head Boy and Girl who tabled the minutes from the meeting with me. From this, there was a discussion around what could be actioned. Some of the actions were a small number of maintenance issues with the playground equipment, more sport equipment at break times and library helpers for Mrs La Rosa in the library. Thank you to the students for their contribution to the running of the school.
Please keep in your thoughts and prayers a school family who has had a grandparent
pass away.
A very happy Father’s Day on Sunday to all fathers and may you have a relaxing and
enjoyable family day.
God Bless and have a great weekend.

Code of Conduct
We take this opportunity to direct members of our community to review our Code of Conduct. These statements are aimed at ensuring the protection and wellbeing of students in our care. In addition, awareness of the Code of Conduct ensures that adults do not put themselves in potentially vulnerable positions; for example, adults use the ambulant toilet when on site and do not use student toilets.
Should you witness any action or behaviour that contravenes the School Code of Conduct we ask all parents and carers to advise the Principal via email.
Please take a few moments to review our Code of Conduct.
School Photos - Tues 29 & Thurs 31 August and Fri 1 September 2023
School Photos have taken place this week with the final Pre-Kindy class tomorrow.
Every student at school has received an individual student photo SHOOTKEY to bring home.
This is different to the ordering process from previous years as parents are now not required to bring back any envelopes and all orders are placed online. #winning
Instructions for ordering photos are on the student photo SHOOTKEY sheets and are self-explanatory. Only online orders are accepted. A wide choice of photo packs are available for purchase.
Any new students to the school received an individual SHOOTKEY form on photo day by the photographers.
Should your child lose their individual order sheet you can request your child’s SHOOTKEY from the office.
All orders are due by Monday, 11 September. Please contact Photo Hendriks if you have not ordered by this date.
Family Photos
Family photos are completed. A Family Order SHOOTKEY was distributed by the photographers on the day and payments can then be placed online.
The Friday, 1 September Photo Schedule is below.
Please contact the school office if you have any questions.

P&F News
I hope everyone is having a lovely week and enjoying the sunshine before the rain sets in.
I would like to send a massive thank you to the Year 1 parents led by our reps Kristen and Tori for putting on a fantastic Fathers Day event. Fathers, father figures and carers alike were spoilt with a well organised, fun event to honour all those special people in our life. These events aren’t quick and easy to prepare, so thank you to everyone involved in making it happen.
Don’t forget, tomorrow is our last day for ordering your cards that count. This has been a tradition for a number of years led by the P&F (this year Lara our Year 4 parent has been doing the hard work behind the scenes). If we don’t have the numbers we have had in previous years, we may have to review whether we run it again.
Next Tuesday, 5 September at 7pm is our next P&F meeting and one of the last ones for the year. If you have anything you would like to see put on the agenda, please let me know. Otherwise you are welcome to attend.
Thanks everyone.
