The numbat is a nocturnal Australian mammal.
The scientific name is myrme cobius fasciatus.
There is only one species of numbats. Quolls and Tasmanian devils are closely related to numbats. Numbats once lived across Southern Australia. Wild numbats are only found in a few remaining areas, like Western Australia.
Numbats live in woodlands in hot dry areas. Numbats prefer habitats which have many hollow logs and branches where numbats can hide.
