BRINGING LITERATURE TO LIFE
We had a wonderful week celebrating literature. We discussed many questions during our large group sessions such as: Which are the parts of a book and the different ways to read a book? Who are the characters? How can we build a story? Who is the author and the illustrator? They came up with interesting answers as we discussed our classroom book.
We even created our own story this week using pictures! With a bag and a bunch of pictures inside, the children closed their eyes and reached in. As each picture was pulled out they dictated the next part of the story.
One of the fun activities we had during this wonderful week was the Rotations Day. We visited other PK3 classrooms and hear what they have been reading. During the morning the children went to each of the PK3 classes where the teachers were waiting to read to them and have some fun activities. PK 3.1 shared a Dr. Seuss story, “The Cat in the Hat” while PK 3.2 chose” Pete the Cat”. In PK 3.4 they were waiting to read “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”.
AUTHORS VISIT
We had the visit from Kristy Dempsey, author of many children’s book. She got to share a little bit about her life to the children. She also read one of her books “SUPERHERO INSTRUCTION MANUAL”. They really enjoyed this story!
