OUR WEEKLY ADVENTURES

LANGUAGE ARTS

This week we focused on creating alternate endings to the story "There's an Alligator Under My Bed" by Mercer Mercer Mayer. The students were able to act out their alternate endings by using puppets. This allowed students to answer questions such as "what just happened?", "What will happen next?", and "what can be changed?" to help them understand the events in the story.

MATH

Our focus this week was on the number 5. We are writing, recognizing and naming the number 5 using miniature blocks and numbered mats.

SCIENCE

In order to explore the life cycles of organisms, this week our children began to familiarize themselves with our garden center tools. This will prepare them for next week's gardening activity where they will begin to plant different flower seeds.

SOCIAL STUDIES

We had a blast discussing the roles and responsibilities of community workers by having our guest speakers officer Kenny from the Houston Police Department and chief Brown from our local fire department visit our classroom. The students were able to ask questions and learn about the role each worker performs in our community.

FRIENDLY REMINDER

I have asked the boys and girls to take home the gardening tools parent permission slip, it is important for them to bring it back signed in order for them to be able to join in all our gardening fun next week. If you could send this form along with the your child's report card, it would be greatly appreciated.

Enjoy your week!
