Johnny Depp

Depp had a rough childhood, his parents divorced when he was 15 years old and spent most of his early years moving from place to place. Depp was engaged in self harm due to the stress of dealing with his family problems. "My body is a journal in a way. It's like what sailors used to do, where every tattoo meant something, specific time in your life when you make a mark on yourself, whether you do it yourself with a knife or with a professional tattoo artist.". At the young age of 16 Depp dropped out of high school to become a rock musician, and although he didn't fall into that path it led it to his great acting career. It isn't easy to detect his disorders but not only does Depp suffer with Social Anxiety disorder but also with Panic disorder. Depp didn't particularly enjoy being in the spotlight because he would become nervous and uneasy during interviews or in front of large groups of people. "When I was in a social situation, I was nervous and uncomfortable. The only way I could get through it was to drink my guts out. I wasted a lot of years.". Depp likes to keep to himself and does not like to put himself in the 'spotlight'. When he is in character it seems as if he has no problem with anxiety. this is because he is playing the role of someone. He takes the role and in a way makes himself that person, a person who does not social anxiety or panic disorder. He is portraying a whole different person and doesn't have to worry about how people view him. Over time Depp has learned how to cope with his social anxiety and panic disorder. He has access to therapist at all times, including on movie sets to help talk to him and advise him on how control the anxiety when it strikes. These therapist can help him change the way he is thinking so that he can get through the day doing what he enjoys most.
