All Things Baker!
Principal's Message!
Thank you for another successful week! Raise Craze is in full swing and I am so proud of all of the acts of kindness that our Baker students are gifting us with. The best part of it is I know the acts of kindness will continue all year and that makes me even more proud!
Additionally, I was thinking about how proud I am of the strong start we have had this year! Although there have been challenges, there always will be, the kiddos have shown me how simple good choices make all the difference in the world. The most basic things we know are the right things to do, our kiddos know already. Sometimes we have to be reminded but treating each other well is the best most basic, most important rule we can ever learn! During my undergraduate studies, one of my professors introduced me to the book All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. It was actually a collection of essays but the first one impacted me most and has stuck with me over my years in education. Basic human courtesy is not brain surgery, it is not a puzzle, and it is not confusing, it is as simple as what we learned in Kindergarten. Treat others the way you want to be treated and you can only control your own behavior and your own reactions to the world around you!
Let's start the week with some of these simple truths and I know it will be successful!
As always, thank you all for your support and at Baker Elementary we believe In a World Where You Can Be Anything . . . Be Kind!
Sincerely,
Danielle Wallace
Raise Craze Update!
We are near the end of our kindness-focused fundraiser, Raise Craze! Students have been asking friends and family for donations via the online platform while paying it forward serving others. They have been learning different ways to show kindness with the hope that the attitude of kindness will continue well beyond the two-week fundraiser! We love that the students are able to spend time serving, not selling!
There is still time to register: my.raisecraze.com/ANGX2A. The cutoff for student prizes will be September 25th. Students will celebrate the end of Raise Craze with a Kindness Carnival during Specials on September 27th.
We are raising money for curriculum resources, flexible seating, and classroom updates. Thanks to your generosity, we have already reached our initial goal of $40,000. Thank you! Last year, we brought in over $59,000. We would love to surpass this to provide additional resources to Baker Elementary! If we meet our stretch goal, Mrs. Wallace and Mrs. Roberds will do not just one but two crazy things suggested by our students! These will take place during the Baker's Best assemblies on October 4th.
School-Wide Service Projects:
We are supporting two local organizations with our school-wide projects, Hugs Cafe and Streetside Showers. Your children are able to select these as Acts of Kindness if they choose. We have collection bins in the main hallway at school to gather these specific items. The response so far has been great!
- Hugs Cafe - Donate Hershey's HUGS, Grape JAM, or Ziploc FREEZER bags
- Streetside Showers - Donate TRAVEL SIZE deodorant, shaving cream, or Gold Bond powder, or NEW washcloths
We would love to see how our students choose to serve others! Post pictures of their AOKs to the Baker Elementary Raise Craze page on Facebook so we can all enjoy the kindness together!

21 Day Challenge - "Be a Super Snacker"
Prosper ISD is competing against Wylie ISD to promote health and nutrition in a friendly competition sponsored by Medical City Children’s Hospital called the 21-Day Challenge. The Registration period is September 23 through October 7. The Challenge starts on October 7. The primary purpose is for our own elementary students to create healthy snack options and commit to healthier “snacking” for this 21-day period in hopes that will create habits of healthier eating for life. This is a good-natured competition promoting a great cause. Scores are based on the percentage of parents that enroll their child in the program, eat healthy snacks and do the post-challenge survey. Some of the menu items in the healthy snack recipe book were created by our high school culinary students, taste-tested by parents/students, and submitted.
More information will be coming out through your PISD Elementary PE classes, but here is how to register:
