Creativity
This week has been full of creativity here at CMS! We had an excellent SEARCH night, a great field trip for girls in STEM, and I have watched 100s of amazing social studies projects come through the door. I am pretty sure there is no more clay, paper mache, or glue in the town of Norwood!
SEARCH
Search night was fantastic! The students that are part of the Search club worked in groups over the course of the year to research their trip destination (Gettysburg and Philadelphia) and decided on three projects per group to complete. There were examples of Amish farming, a replica of a boxing ring (for Rocky), many delicious home made treats, and several dioramas. This was truly an example of the great learning experience that come from project based activities!
Girls in STEM
Ms. Bernritter and Mr. Freeman took about 30 girls to a Girls in Stem program on Tuesday. The students worked with girls from other school on a variety of science and engineering activities.
SS Projects
A culminating event for grade 6 are their ancient civilizations social studies projects. Currently residing throughout the school are Hadrian's wall, a Temple to Athena, a Sphinx, and many other ancient wonders. If you have a chance - stop by and check them out!

Teacher Tweet Out
I want to let you know that Ms. Siegal is truly an asset to the Coakley. Since the first day of school she has gone above and beyond for my son. He has created a special bond with Miss Siegel and so have I.
She has provided tremendous support, thoughtfulness and caring. She keeps in contact with me about how he is progressing and offers support constantly.
My son has done wonderful academically with his transition into middle school and I know this would not have been so easy for him if it wasn't for Miss Siegel's guidance and support.

As we near the end of the year we have a few special activities and requests for 6th and 7th grade parents.

Student Council is helping sign up student volunteers but we also need parents to help chaperone this event. Field Day, June 19 & Graduation. June 21 - 7th grade parents traditionally help out with 8th grade graduation, and this year we will need parents to help set up and serve food from 5-7. For field day we need donations of water and ice. Small water bottles are preferred. You can sign up for either need here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0d4aada828a6f85-field1
School kits available for purchase. Order on schooltoolbox.com. Ordering deadline is June 24 and they will be delivered to Coakley the week of August 13th. THIS IS A NEW VENDOR
And for 8th grade parents - we are putting together a slide show for the end of the year. Please feel free to upload photos, share with your kids and let them add in photos from their years at the CMS. https://photos.app.goo.gl/cjgI48M1cjg8kgeo2
