Fourth Report of the State of the Region Project
Press Conference on WEDNESDAY
A Report for and from Central America
This goal has been accomplished by creating a monitoring system of six important dimensions of the human development (demographic, social, economic, political, environmental and regional integration) and consolidating academic networks interested in these areas. Informed participation was an integral part of the entire process to prepare the Central American Report, beginning with the identification of relevant issues through a broad consultation process. This was followed by the establishment of an Advisory Committee (Angel Cal, Filiberto Penados and Carlos Santos for Belize), and by numerous research studies presented at workshops for critical appraisal. The process culminated with the validation of the text by peer reviewers.
