Invasive Species
ROUND GOBYS
My BIG inquiry question
Does the Round Goby affect other invasive species? And if so, how?
The Round Goby A.K.A Neogobius Melanostomus.
The Round Goby is a bottom dwelling invasive species.
They can spawn multiple times each spring without dying off, they eat zebra mussels and or fishes eggs, they are also commonly 30.5 centimeters long (that's just more then the length of a ruler!).
The male Round Goby has 1 fin on the top of its body and the female has 2.
The Round Goby originated from Eastern Europe.
The Round Goby eats zebra and quagga mussles, fish eggs, and smaller fish.
When you catch a Round Goby so it does not flop back in the water you must cut off its head.
You must NEVER relese a Round Goby or ANY invasive species that you have caught.
Here is a diagram of a Round Goby.
How many eggs does a female Round Goby produce?
Female Round Gobys reproduce repeatedly, every 20 days,Females make 89 to 3841 eggs at a time. The amount of eggs a female produces depends on big a Goby is.
