Second Grade
Important Reminders for this Week:
- Reading 3-D (Reading) End of the Year Benchmark Tests will be occurring Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 20.
- 4th quarter progress reports go home on Wednesday, May 4.
- Common assessments in reading and math will occur on Friday, May 5.
Reading
RI.2.10: By the end of year, read and comprehend informational texts, including history/social studies, science, and technical texts, in the grades 2-3 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.
- In other words, students are expected to make more connections among ideas and between texts, using a wider range of evidence from the text, and becoming more aware of inconsistent, unclear, and poor reasoning in texts.
Math
2.NBT.1, 2, 3: Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones. Count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s. Read and write numbers to 1000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.
2.OA.1: Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem
2.MD.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9: Measure and estimate lengths in standards units. Relate addition and subtraction to length. Show measurements on a line plot.
2.G.1: Recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or a given number of equal faces. Identify triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and cubes.
