What a challenging time of year this is for everyone. We have assessments coming up, we have seniors on the cusp of graduation, we have snow and cold weather that seems to be ignoring the fact that spring should have at least begun to have sprung...regardless, of how we may be feeling-and I use we as a very indefinite pronoun to appeal to anyone who feels that it is applicable-it is important for us to remember the quote above.
Reflect on it in the context of your own schooling. Which memories are the most vivid? Why? Though what was said or what was done usually revolves around the feelings that followed, it is the feelings themselves that sear the memory into our brains and continue to shape who we are for the remainder of our days...good or bad...that is not to say that there is not occasion for accountability and correction, it is certainly not 'let's hold hands and skip all the time'; however, pause for reflection prior to potentially creating life-long memories that can inspire or deflate is always advisable. I know that you are the type of individuals who always try to do this with our kids despite the weather, the pressures of being an educator, or whatever else might be creating adversity in our lives, and for that, I thank you!
