Snow Days Moving Forward (Reminder)
Indiana Winter is in full force, and that means there is always the possibility that school could be delayed or moved to virtual.
In the event that inclement weather precludes our doors from being open, John Glenn Schools will be utilizing eLearning Days instead of canceling school for the day.
For students at the primary level, teachers should have sent home eLearning Day packets or folders for your child(ren). For our older students, there will be more online, interactive activities fed through Canvas that students will need to complete.
With the cold and snow on its way in January, if you have a question as to how your child's teacher will utilize eLearning Days, please feel free to send them an email to clarify.
Winter is Here! (Reminder)
Winter is in full force!
Please remind your children that their clothes need to change as well. Coats, shoes, hats, gloves, etc. may be needed sooner rather than later!
If you need assistance in providing any type of clothing, please email Principal Fuller at pfuller@jgsc.k12.in.us
Similarly, as the snow begins to fall, please remember to keep it slow in the parking lot, both in the morning and afternoon.
We have a lot of very excited kids eager to both come to school and go home from school, and we want to make sure we are keeping them as safe as possible.
(RECURRING) WES Devices: Chargers, and Cords Going Home
If/when a child is sent home for COVID related reasons, we want to ensure that each student has everything they need to meet virtually with their class(es): This includes sending home a device, charging brick, and cord.
Our Tech Department does a wonderful job of ensuring that these items are placed in a Ziploc bag with a note for each child.
As a reminder, if the charging brick and cord are not returned upon your child's returning to school, for grades KG-2nd, a $5 fee for each the charging brick and cord will be assessed to your child's account. For grades 3-6, a $20 fee will be assessed for a missing Chromebook charging brick and cord.
If items are misplaced or forgotten, we will send home a reminder to return the item, but if the charging brick or cord is not returned within 48 hours, that $5 fee will be assessed until the items are returned.
If you have any questions, please contact Principal Fuller at pfuller@jgsc.k12.in.us
(RECURRING) Boys and Girls Club Information
Starting this school year, the JG Before and After School Program is transitioning into the Boys and Girls Club to provide before and after school care for our elementary students.
You should have received an email from Mr. Davis earlier this week, but if not, please click HERE for more information on the program.
With any new program, there will be some bumps along the way, but here are TWO UPDATES that will hopefully alleviate any stress:
- The wonderful individuals you have gotten to know with John Glenn B/A Care will be back as part of the Boys and Girls Club Program!
- The service will start our first day of school, Wednesday, August 11th
Please register for care as normal. If you have any questions about the program, please contact Mrs. Heather Harrison at hharrison@jgsc.k12.in.us

Principal Fuller's Thoughts
This past week has been a blessed one for the Fuller Family, as my wife and I welcomed our daughter Brooklyn Marie Fuller to the world.
Brooklyn is more precious than I ever could have imagined, and she has already become a shining light in our world.
Benjamin has taken to his new role as big brother nicely, even making a sad face every time he hears his little sister upset :)
Spending these first moments with my family at home has been very special to my wife and I, and it's allowed me to reflect on the importance of teamwork.
A family is all about teamwork...it cannot be solely one person's responsibility to make a family, business, school., etc. run effectively.
True teamwork is not only ensuring that you are doing your part in that team as best as possible, but also helping others on your team when they need it most.
At home, my wife and I trade off getting up in the middle of the night so that the other of us gets sleep. When one of us is feeling more tired or had 'one of those days' , we are there to help take a shift or let the other have a night off.
The same holds drew for our WES Family: Many times our WES Family Members will take on extra roles to help make sure our students don't have a disruption to their day, even if it means more work on their plate.
This is true teamwork, and what a family is all about...being there for one another.
I'm grateful and thankful for our entire WES Family...Students, Staff, Parents, and Our Community.
With any family, disagreements arise, but the goal of all pulling in the same direction (our kids) is what matters most.
Remember, families grow stronger the more they believe and support one another, and that family bond is stronger than ever at Walkerton Elementary School!
I am excited to share with you Baby Brooklyn's progress over the months and years. If you were in contact with me this past week, I will be sure to respond when I return to the office on Monday :)
Happy Weekend, WES!
