Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are looking for 5th grade students who are willing to be here early and stay after school to serve on our safety patrol for the 2021-2022 school year. Safety patrol enables us to ensure all students safely enter the building and are greeted each morning with a friendly smile. It also teaches 5th graders responsibility and citizenship, which are great leadership skills.

Safety patrol members will be stationed at the crosswalks or at the entrance of our building. Students are responsible for their assigned location from 8:15 to 8:30 a.m. please make sure your child arrives at school no later than 8:10 a.m. on his or her assigned week. Students will be responsible for waiting for cars to come to a complete stop, safely crossing students, and returning to their assigned locations. Students will be taught how to safely do these tasks. Montclair staff will be outside supervising all Safety Patrol Members and will be available to answer any questions the students may have. Please keep in mind that students may be removed if they do not follow the expectations of safety patrol or school-wide expectations. Parents will be notified if this is something that becomes a concern.

Each assignment will last for one week (Wednesday after school to Wednesday morning). They will pick up their safety patrol vest in the office and return them neatly folded after each safety patrol duty. You will receive a reminder note the Friday before your child has safety patrol. If your child is absent on his or her assigned date, please call the office at 402-715-1295. You do not need to find a substitute.

Please know students will need to arrive at school on their designated week between 8:05-8:10 a.m. They will be responsible for afternoon safety patrol from 3:35-4:00pm. On Wednesdays, they are responsible from 2:10 to 2:30 PM. If you have any questions, please contact us at 402-715-1295.
