Team 2020 VISION
January 2018
Happy New Year!
This newsletter is full of information regarding important dates and deadlines, but probably the most important one right now is scheduling. Later this month, students will need to choose the courses they will take during their junior year, and it is absolutely imperative that you talk with your child about what classes s/he would like to take. Many times parents call in and request a schedule change because they thought the choices made in January were “preliminary,” but the reality is that the selections made this month need to be the final choices to ensure a seat is available in classes next year. If you have questions about scheduling or just want to touch base in general with a Team member, please visit our Sign-Up Genius page to schedule a Team meeting. Our goal is to meet with every student’s parent(s) once a year, so please contact us to set an appointment in person or by phone. We look forward to meeting with you soon!

A Few Notes on Scheduling
The scheduling season is upon us! It is an exciting time, as many opportunities are opening up for our Juniors-to-be. Teacher recommendations have been made for next year's core courses, and the scheduling videos will be shown to students in class at the end of this week. At that time, scheduling worksheets will also be distributed to each student, so they are able to note what courses they will be requesting. These worksheets lay out all class options for their Junior year. Just a reminder that all course listings, descriptions, and pre-requisites are listed in our 2018-19 Program of Studies found here - https://www.brownsburg.k12.in.us/Page/1451. You may also find scheduling worksheets and helpful links on the BCSC App or online at https://www.brownsburg.k12.in.us/bhs-scheduling.
Please see below for additional scheduling dates.
- January 18th/19th - Scheduling videos shown in classrooms (worksheets distributed)
- January 22nd-29th - Open online enrollment
- January 30th - Mrs. Webb begins meeting with students one on one (all meetings to be complete by March 2nd)

Area 31 is a local Career and Technical Education Center that many of our students elect to attend in their Junior and/or Senior years. Area 31 is located at Ben Davis High School and offers many career and technical programs that provide work based learning experiences. Most programs enable students to earn college credit, and some offer ways to meet Technical Honors Diploma requirements. You can learn more about each program by visiting our Program of Studies (link provided under scheduling notes above).
If your student is interested in Area 31, please plan to attend their Open House on Thursday, January 25th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.. The address for the Open House is below.
