Reflecting on the past week...
There were lots of great things happening in classes and around Marian this past week! The IDEA class, for instance, made their first practice "pitch" of their ideas to see if they were worth persuing. Thanks to Mr. Mike Domek who came in shared his wisdom! We have some very interesting product and service ideas!
Thanks to everyone who followed guidelines and procedures and made our Shelter In Place Drill a smooth one on Tuesday afternoon. As was discussed at our inservice the next day, we are going to be talking over how we can improve sheltering locations so as to ensure safety. Please also remember that when doing these drills it is important to make sure the students are quiet so that if, in a real situation, we need to give further instructions, all will be able to hear and respond accordingly.
Our inservice Wednesday afternoon was quite productive. Mr. Shukis lead us in really looking at what great things are happening at Marian, both by the staff and students. It was great to participate in such a positive reflection. In addition, as was discussed, Adminsitration will be developing a list of "options" that will help us make a solid decision on how to address making up the lost time from the lightning. Stay tuned. We also discussed how E-Learning will look if/when we use it. Remember, until we actually implement it the first time, we will not know what "tweaks" we will need to make, but all input will be welcomed.
Mr. Shukis also shared the Diocese's expectations for timesheets. Mrs. Murwin had emailed everyone a copy of the sheet with instructions...
-Turn them in to Peggy on the 15th and 30th/31st of each month.
-Put your daily start time and end time
- If you are out for a conference put the time and put conference in reason.
- If you are gone late for coaching, etc. put the time and put FB coach, VB coach, etc.
Here's the link to the sheet again, for your convenience.
Finally, we shared information on the adjustments to our evacuation drills. Please make sure that you share these changes with all of your second hour classes. Remember that we will be conducting an Evacuation Drill walk-through on Oct. 10 at 9am to make sure all students are aware of the new location and expectations.
The rest of the week was business as usual... but it seems that students were busy and engaged!
What's coming up?
We can answer this question in one word... HOMECOMING!
Please make sure youa re aware of the events and schedules that will make up this week on the Homecoming section below.
A couple of important points of interest...
- With all of the students dressing up this week, if you identify any inappropriate outfits, please send them down to the office right after the announcements.
- Senior teachers: When you head to the auditorium on Monday, 3rd period for the Josten's presentation on graduation announcements, cap, & gown, students will need to bring a pencil so they can also vote for their Homecoming K&Q.
- We will be having our Distinguished Alumni for 2019 speak right after mass ends on Friday morning and students will be dismissed afterwards.
- An email will be coming early next week that will list students that will need to be dismissed from 9th period on Friday to prepare for the pep rally.
We know that Homecoming week gets a little crazy but I know that you will all make every attempt to keep academics in the forefront. Thank you for finding the appropriate balance between keeping your students engaged and allowing them to enjoy this special week!
Have a wonderful week!
