BCIT Parents/Guardians-
This time of year is always met with excitement and anticipation of the upcoming school year. Returning new students and families should continue to experience high expectations in the areas of learning, instruction and behavior. We pride ourselves on providing a welcoming, safe, and nurturing environment where positive relationships are developed. With that in mind, we have made social emotional learning one of our focuses. In addition, our teachers are poised to develop lessons that are both rigorous and relevant and aligned to state mandated standards. Teachers will focus on promoting meaningful student-centered discussions and placing the responsibility for learning directly on the students’ shoulders. Upgrades in technology will also be apparent as we have added Chrome book carts to academic and career major areas as well as new computers in our media center.
We realize the anxiety incoming students may have as they prepare to enter a new school, particularly high school. To address such apprehension we have developed a summer orientation program and a modified schedule for freshmen and new students on the first day of school.
A great deal of consideration has been given to ensure your child’s course selection needs are met. Schedules can be viewed via the parent portal. Please contact your child’s counselor if you have any questions.
My door is always open and I welcome the opportunity to meet with parents. I look forward to the anticipated partnership and support from parents as we work together to insure the success of our students. Enjoy the remaining weeks of the summer and we will see you on September 6th.
