Stone Soup
This project integrates Common Core Standards for first grade in reading, math, and technology. I will read the story "Stone Soup" by and as a class we will discuss and list the ingredients used in the making of the soup on chart paper. We will then sort the cans of vegetables I have asked the students to bring in by reading the labels on the cans and creating a paper graph. Students will sort by a given attribute, gather and organize data, graph results of the sorting activity, and answer questions about the graph. This project will be the conclusion of my unit on Thanksgiving and the students will participate by bringing in one can of vegetables to be used in the graphing activity both on chart paper as a class and create an individual graph using the Graph Club program.
