Eagle Empire Update
October 5, 2020
Dear Families,
Good afternoon Eagle families,
Thank you for a successful first week of Blended Learning! It was wonderful to see students back on campus. We are proud of how our students honored safety regulations and engaged in small group learning. We hope our Distance Learners stayed connected by checking their teacher learning platforms and emailed when they have questions. You may be learning at a distance, but you are still in the forethought of our minds!
Next week begins the first Final Week of the year! Please check with your teachers regarding specific information for their classes. Additionally please note our adjusted Final Schedule below.
On Monday October 12th we will begin the first week of Quarter 2. In order to prepare for this transition your Quarter 2 teachers will be sending their welcome cards starting Monday October 5th. These welcome cards will provide contact information for your teachers, an explanation of their learning platform, and information on how to get started in their class.
This school year has brought many new adventures, obstacles and opportunities to grow. As we continue to navigate a school system that has never been experienced before, we extend our utmost gratitude for all the students, parents, teachers and staff who embrace this wild journey.
Together we are Eagles,
Mr. Fowler

Financial Aid
It's financial aid season! The FAFSA, the free application for federal student aid, opened today for students starting college in the Fall of 2021.
To apply for financial aid, start by gathering necessary documents, which includes social security numbers, tax documents from 2019 and information about assets. (If a student doesn't have a social security number they might be eligible to fill out the CA Dream Act Application instead of the FAFSA.) Next, complete the FAFSA. It will share your information directly with the California Student Aid Commission (which gives out state-based financial aid) and the colleges that you put on the application. Then, you will receive a Student Aid Report that will summarize your submission and show what kind of federal grant you might be eligible for. By filling out the FAFSA you are also applying for a Cal-Grant (the state-based financial aid). Once you apply and are accepted to colleges, they will reach out directly to you with school-specific financial aid packages (which could include federal and state aid as well as aid from the school itself). You'll work directly with each school's financial aid office to accept any or all of the package they offer.
Please visit the Federal Student Aid website for more information. You can explore the financial aid process, view a financial aid checklist and more. For even more info, please keep a look out for information on our upcoming FAFSA presentation, offered on October 15th!
