The Crissman Connection

Our First Week of October

Hello Crissman Families,

Well, the first month of school is officially behind us! Students are well established into their routines and teachers are finishing up their beginning of the year assessments to personalize instruction for our students.

This month, I will be meeting with every grade-level to present our new school-wide strategy on how to effectively solve problems at school, at home, or in the community. This strategy is going to be referred to as… “If you feel bugged, then it’s time to Debug!”

Students will be learning how to:

Decide to ignore

Exit or Move Away

Be friendly

Use an “I Message”

Get Adult Help

In addition to learning this fantastic strategy, students will be learning about the differences between teasing and bullying. We will be reading Tease Monster and discussing the book together. It is a great story that prompts discussion on the topic about how someone feels when we are unkind.

After, we will practice how to successfully use an “I Message”. An "I Message" is a strategy to use to resolve conflict appropriately by sharing how you feel. I invite you to use this strategy at home and/or within the community when your child comes to you with an issue. Simply start by asking them....did you use an "I Message" and support them through the issue. It is "I feel_______when you________can you please_______."
