Riverside Church of Christ
Butterfly School News for December!!
CHRISTMAS! What a glorious time of year! Long, long, ago, a very special child was born who was like no other! He spent his first hours in a simple manger surrounded by a loving mother, father and animals! Lying in this manger of wood and straw was the promised Messiah, the hope of the world! This is GOD’S GREATEST GIFT in the most humble of settings. Here our Messiah stepped from heaven to live a sinless life, then willingly and selflessly gave his life to pay a debt he did not owe. This selfless act was done as a gift for you and me, and all others willing to claim his name. Why should anyone not choose to accept GODS GREATEST GIFT?! We believe this is what Christmas is all about!
Our annual Butterfly School Program, GOD’S GREATEST GIFT, will be held Thursday, December 15th at 12:00 noon. The performance will be in the main sanctuary area of our church. We will be professionally recording the program so everyone can enjoy the program from their seats. Be sure to pre-order your DVD of the performance. Order forms went home with your child, I have extra copies in the office if needed.
A big thank you to all for quickly adapting to the new traffic pattern flow. It seems to be working well and provides a safer and more directional flow. It allows our safety crew to better care for our students as they exit cars and enter our building.
Remember, our Faculty Favorites Book is a handy resource to find out a little more about your child's teacher if you are planning to do a little gifting at Christmas. Many of you have already come by and taken a picture of your teacher’s information. This book is located just outside my office on the bottom of the red shelf.
I am excited to report that I have received my first Butterfly School Pink Hearts Pony Tail!! Thank you to Melody Trowell! What a great example you are setting for your children and friends. Donating a 12 inch pony tail is a beautiful way to give back! Thank you for being such a great role model!
Pink Heart Funds is a way to help children with hair loss during chemotherapy. Children are able to receive a wig, free of charge, if their family does not have the means to purchase one. You can find out more at the web site www.Pinkheartfunds.com. Pink Heart Funds is not associated with a similar organization; ‘ Locks of Love’. If you have any questions I am happy to visit with you. Always thrilled to get another pony tail!
This time of year is filled sweets and treats! The story of the candy cane is one of my favorites! Your child will be bringing home a version of this tale. Be looking for it the last week of school.
If you are looking for a Christmas Music experience I would like to suggest attending the MidCities Chamber Singers Christmas concert. Join us for a glorious evening of Christmas classics. Budding Artists in Butterfly School! -Ms. Shelby
December in Art looks a lot like Christmas! Your artists will be learning new painting and drawing techniques! We will work with non conventional painting tools to spark their art imaginations! On Wednesdays in December please make sure your artist is in art attire as we will be nothing short of MESSY!
Musical Moments -Ms.Kim
In music, Miss Kim will be practicing Christmas Program songs with her three-year- old and preK classes. Miss Kim and Miss Debby will be teaching the children some favorites such a Jingle Bells and Feliz Navidad. We will also be discussing the story of Jesus' birth. Although the younger children won't be performing until the Spring Program, they'll be learning some Christmas favorites too. In learning new songs with movements they'll be exercising their memory skills and learning how to keep rhythm by following different tempos. We can't wait to see you at the Christmas Program on December 15th!
Chapel Chat -Ms. Debby
In chapel, we're celebrating the birth of Jesus. God loves us so much that he came to earth to live with us! Our threes classes and pre-K classes are preparing to tell the story of this special baby in our program on Thursday, December 15. We're excited about our family and friends coming to hear us sing! Merry Christmas!
