Ipad Updates
All iPads need to be updated to IOS 17.1 this weekend. To install iOS 17.1, go to Settings>General>Software Updates. You will scroll down to the bottom to find iOS 17.1. Updating your iPad is a two step process. First you will download the update then install. The iPad needs to be plugged in and at least 20% battery to install.
Attendance
If your child is going to be absent for an entire day, you may submit an absence request in skyward. Below are the steps:
- Login to your family access
- Select your student
- Click on attendance
- Click "add absence request"
- Fill out all required information and make sure "all day" is selected
- Submit
All other absence types (coming in late, checking out early, etc) can be taken care of in the office.
***Remember that all doctors notes must be received within 48 hours of the absence. Your child can bring a physical copy or you may email a copy to lbmsattendance@lcisd.net.
Academic UIL
Congratulations to all students who participated in the academic UIL contest on November 6th. LBMS competed very well and brought home the championship with 983 points. Way to go Bush Nation!!!!!
Basketball Rule Change
There will be a big rule change in UIL basketball this year. Please read the graphic below. Also, officials will be cracking down on spectator behavior. While we are competitive and want our student athletes to succeed, let's ensure that our fan base acts in an appropriate manner while setting the best possible example for our kids!
Teacher Appreciation
The LBMS PTO is hosting a luncheon for teacher appreciation this month. Please consider contributing to this great event for our teachers. This is a fan favorite!!!
One Pill Can Kill Presentation
On November 17th, we will host an assembly discussing the dangers of taking unidentified/unprescribed pills and the current fentanyl crisis. This assembly will be straight forward and highlight dangers that are right here in Lubbock. As with any assembly, we will have an opportunity for parents to opt their student out of attending. If you DO NOT want your child to attend this assembly, please click the link below and fill out the form.
Cooper's Got Talent
Lubbock-Cooper High School is hosting their fifth annual Cooper's Got Talent. This year our DECA chapter will be opening the doors to our LCP community. We will have talent from across our campus and even a masked singer for your enjoyment! Please join us on Thursday, November 16 at the LCHS Performing Arts Center. Doors open at 6:00 and the show starts at 6:30. Tickets will be sold at the door for $2.00. You will not want to miss this one-of-kind show created by students for students. All proceeds go to our LCHS DECA chapter travel, food, and registration costs.
8th Grade Banquet Fundraiser
Please see the flyer for an excellent opportunity to help with the 8th grade banquet.
Pirate Pantry
The Pirate Pantry program is an outreach of the Lubbock-Cooper community present on each of the district's eight campuses which supplies students (and families) with food, clothing, supplies, and other needs.
The purpose of a campus Pirate Pantry is to provide essentials for students that they may not have access to, with the ultimate goal of giving them the best possible chance to succeed. Campus Pirate Pantries accept donations from community members and operate through donations made by area business and community leaders and, most recently, a grant boost from First United Bank via the Lubbock-Cooper Education Foundation.
Currently, LBMS Pirate Pantry is in need of restocking shelves after supplying as many families as we could before summer. We are in need of the following donations to Pirate Pantry for both boys and girls as well as snacks that might be helpful through the weekends.
- Hygiene products
- Shampoo/Conditioner
- Deodorant
- Body Wash
- Hair Brushes
- Combs
- Laundry Soap (small enough to be sent in a backpack)
- Kid Friendly Snacks (Fruit Snacks, Jello, Pudding, Peanut Butter, PopTarts, Granola Bars, Individual packaged items, apple sauce, trail mix, beef jerky, etc)
All donated items may be dropped off in the front office. We appreciate your consideration!!
Businesses To The East Of LBMS
Some of the businesses directly east of LBMS have asked for help with a few things:
1. Please don't use their lots as a place for student pick-up or drop-off.
2. If your student isn't going to be a paying customer, they do not need to be there for the sake of hanging out or waiting for a ride.
3. Please avoid using the alley behind Happy's and Harrigan's as a cut through to avoid before and after school traffic. We want to help their staff remain safe when doing outside tasks.
Let's do our part as a LCP community to help these businesses out.
Semester Exemption Days
We wanted to go ahead and put out the criteria used to determine semester exemption days in December and May. This is a front-loaded incentive for students to do well academically and with attendance.
Wrestling
Is your child interested in wrestling? Check out the Pirate Wrestling Club! Click the link to fill out an interest form and hear more about the program! https://forms.gle/4i1wB2K7jwtyY82R6
8th Grade Banquet Fundraisers
Please see the following graphics for two fundraiser opportunities for our 8th grade banquet:
No Outside Delivery For Student Lunches
Parents/Guardians may bring a lunch for their students. Lunches can be dropped off in the front office and students will be allowed to pick-up their food when they are dismissed for lunch.
**Due to security concerns, no outside entity (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Favor, Pizza delivery, Chick-Fil-A, etc.) will be allowed to drop off lunches for students. Lunches delivered in this way to students will not be accepted and will be turned away.
