Nurse's Corner: Ms. Lacy Green

Special note to all 7th graders parents. Please make sure your students are current on their immunizations, (Tdap and MCV4). These are REQUIRED for ALL 7th graders before the 1st day of school! If you have any questions, please call the clinic. You can bring your updated vaccine record to Meet the Teacher night. Your student will not receive their schedule if they are not up to date on vaccinations.

Please do not expose other students and staff to illness by sending your student to school, if they are sick. Attendance is taken during all 7 class periods, not just in the morning, so please do not send them to school sick with the intention to pick them up after attendance is taken. Students will not be counted absent. If your child is experiencing any of the following symptoms that is not normal for them: fever, chills, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, cough, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, headache, sore throat, shaking or exaggerated shivering, body aches, vomiting or diarrhea, please keep them home. You can contact the school for a COVID test, if needed. Students must be vomiting/diarrhea/fever free WITHOUT fever reducing medication for 24 hours before they can return to school.

The clinic does not keep medication in the clinic to be given without a doctors order. If your child needs to take medication at school please contact the clinic for the appropriate forms. Parents must bring the forms and the medication to the clinic before medication can be administered. Medication CAN NOT be taken on the bus or carried by the student, this includes cough drops, pain reliever, and over the counter medication, antibiotics or other prescriptions.

CMS Counselor's Corner

We look forward to an awesome school year with each of your student(s). The counseling team at CMS will work with students to provide academic, career, college, military readiness and social-emotional competencies. We also handle all 504 meetings. We want each student to feel safe and happy. It is important to us that students want to come to school. Each month our campus will concentrate on one character trait. This month’s character trait is Kindness. Your student(s) will hear more about character traits in their classes and from various staff around the school.

More about Kindness…..

KINDNESS means being considerate, courteous, helpful, and understanding of others. Showing care, compassion, friendship, and generosity. Treating others as you would like to be treated. A kind person shows concern for the feelings of others and is helpful and generous.

10 ways to practice kindness

  1. Text or call a friend to let them know you are thinking about them.

  2. Volunteer at a food bank or animal shelter.

  3. Send cards to the military.

  4. Listen to friends or family members talk about their day.

  5. Smile!

  6. Give compliments.

  7. Help your younger siblings with their homework.

  8. Sit with a new student at lunch.

  9. Leave encouraging notes for family members or friends.

  10. Pick up something that someone else dropped and hand it to them.

If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to your child’s counselor. We can all be reached at 281-593-1148 or email us at the addresses listed below.
