High-tech educational gems for Central Elementary students

December Events

Week of December 2nd

If you have not already done so, please download a QR code scanner to your student's iPad that he/she brings to school, or a home device you allow your child to use for homework. There are many options available for free. Students will take turns bringing home an "iPad" card that allows them to scan the QR code for e-books to have them read aloud to them. This is a great way to tie home-school learning together and promote an interest in reading!

This week's Literacy focus is on the book The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett, and we will have another "iPad" card with QR codes for her books next week. I hope this proves fun and engaging for your child, and look forward to hearing feedback!

Sight Words

Options include font size, color, and type, difficulty level, randomization or predictable presentation, and sound effects. If you like this, try the Fry Words version also!

Meet our Staff

Our paraprofessionals are gems in themselves, and I can't say enough about how much they do for our students!

Mrs. King

My husband James and I have been married for over 16 years, and we have 2 daughters. Amelia attends first grade at Central, and really enjoys being able to engage in fun activities with your children each morning as they wait for the first bell to ring! Eloise is in the Strong Beginnings Pre-K program at Ft. Riley this year, so she has one more year before she gets to join us. As a military family we have enjoyed living in many exciting places, but look forward to retiring in 4 years. As Kansas natives we are hoping to be able to stay in this area and make this our permanent home.

I have a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies and a M.A.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. I am currently attending classes at K-State to obtain a doctorate in Special Education and my building level administrator certification.
