Bright Lights of February
Did he say 6 more weeks of Winter?
School Improvement Plan
This year, our School Improvement Team, consisting of a representative from each grade level, special education and our specialists, designed goals to improve the performance of our children in reading and math. We are using the Measuring Academic Progress (MAP) results for the gauge of progress. We will present our mid-year findings to the school board in February. There will be an end of the year report in my late May SMORE. So far, we like the direction we are heading.
Stop Sign at the End of the Day
At the close of the school day, and traffic is leaving our school grounds, we must be very aware of the cars and children around us. If you find yourself at the stop sign, at the end of our Primary School drive, and you are turning right, you must allow the chidren and crossing guard to be completely out of the crosswalk before you leave. Please keep an eye out for this. Thanks.
Sweetheart Dance for Dads and Daughters
The Merton PTO presents the 3rd annual Sweetheart Dance for 4K-8th girls and their fathers on Friday, February 3rd. The dance will be from 6:30-8:30PM in the Intermediate School gym. As the due date was last week, this is only a reminder for those who already have signed up to attend.
Schoolhouse Players are Coming
Next Week on Tuesday afternoon, this local theatrical group from Hartland will join our children in our cafeteria for "The Emperor's New Clothes". Our 4K through 4th graders will enjoy this 40 minutes play and will enjoy the upclose presentation of a terrific story about a king. We know they will enjoy it.
Summer Learning Opportunities Night
Wisconsin offers outstanding summer academic opportunities and camps for children, but the deadlines are often early and easily missed.
Does your child...
- enjoy learning at high or advanced levels?
- have a strong passion in learning a particular subject or topic?
- benefit from being with other high achieving or like-minded children?
4Th graders getting it done!
Below you will find pics of the students in fourth grade working on their google presentations. Their are multiple steps in this process and they are bringing their learning to others in a digital manner. Working together is also a fringe benefit of their project.
Using our Chromebooks to make it happen

Here is a pic of a note left by one of 7th or 8th graders to one of our 4th graders. Many of these notes were left, anonymously in cubbies this past week. It was part of the unit on reaching out and being kind. Many of our children responded so happily to seeing these little gifts. Very cool idea. Thanks "big" kids.
