Melodie Z Scott is a hard working professional in an industry that cares for others. She has been a member of several boards and committees. The earliest examples of her leadership skills were in the mid 1990s. As a charter member of the Professional Conservators of California, Melodie Z Scott held the position of secretary in 1994 and president in 1995.
After 1995, Melodie Z Scott joined the Professional Fiduciary Association of California (PFAC). In 1996, Melodie Z Scott became a chartered member of the association. She held her first position of leadership in 1998 as State Vice President and Legislative chair. Her next position was as president in 1999, and conference chair in 2000.
Melodie Z Scott was given two awards in 2004 by the Professional Fiduciary Association of California. She received the PFAC State Outstanding Service Award in 2004 and the 2004 Affiliate Member of the Year award. Melodie Z Scott was honored by receiving both awards and remained a member of the Professional Fiduciary Association of California for an additional five years.
While Melodie Z Scott was recognized by the Professional Fiduciary Association of California twice in 2004, she received even more honors that year. Melodie Z Scott was proud of her work as a professional fiduciary when she was featured in AARP magazine. Melodie Z Scott was featured in the magazine’s January 2004 issue.
In addition to her membership with the Professional Fiduciary Association of California, Melodie Z Scott worked for the State of California Professionals Fiduciary Bureau from 2007 to 2008. Through the professional bureau, Melodie Z Scott worked as a qualified educator and as part of the advisory committee for developing the professional fiduciary test required by the Business and Professions Code. Even though Melodie Z Scott did not receive any awards or recognition for her work on the advisory committee, she was honored to be part of something so important.
Melodie Z Scott Sees the Necessity of Properly Qualified Fiduciaries
The position of a fiduciary is very important. By its simplest definition, a fiduciary is a person in a position of trust. They are guardians appointed by the courts, and they perform a number of roles. A fiduciary may be responsible for carrying out the terms of a trust, managing a person’s estate, or overseeing the welfare of the person. This position also comes with decision making responsibilities. Obviously, such a position requires great responsibility and trustworthiness.
Melodie Z Scott knew such an important position should require someone who is qualified or certified to handle the responsibilities. In 2007, Melodie Z Scott was one of three educators approved by the State of California as a National Association Guardianship Certified Educator. For Melodie Z Scott, this was a very prestigious position that carried a lot of responsibility.
As a National Association Guardianship Certified Educator in 2007, Melodie Z Scott had years of experience in the industry. Her knowledge about the roles and responsibilities of guardians, fiduciaries, and conservators grew during her long career. Melodie Z Scott Creates Most Successful Fundraiser in University History
Melodie Z Scott is a graduate of the University of Redlands. She is proud to be an alumnus of the University of Redlands. She contributes much of the success that she has seen in her life to the education that she received while attending the University of Redlands. Melodie Z Scott worked hard while attending the university, but she was well aware of the advantages that she had of attending a school that featured a talented and caring group of faculty and staff.
It is for this reason that she wanted to give something back to the university. She knew that she wanted to help the school reach new generations as they had reached her. Melodie Z Scott wanted to work towards supporting the University of Redlands in helping them in their funding. While she has given the school plenty of personal donations throughout the years, she also wanted to do something more.
From the years 1996 to 1999, Melodie Z Scott was the president of the Alumni Athletes Associates. During this time, she developed a new kind of fundraiser for the school. The school has an athletic fundraising program known as the University of Redlands Bulldog Bench. The original event started back in 1971 by Ted Runner, the Athletic Director at the time, as well as two former graduates by the names of “Bunny” Gillette and Clay Brooks. The goal of the event was to support student athletes, which they have been doing now for over 4 decades.

Becoming a fiduciary is a big deal, and like many professional roles, it requires testing and certification. In the State of California, becoming a professional fiduciary requires licensing. Melodie Z Scott understands the roles and duties of a fiduciary very well and has made it part of her professional career. Melodie Z Scott has been a member of the Professional Conservators of Southern California, the Professional Fiduciary Association of California, the National Guardianship Foundation, and the State of California Professionals Fiduciary Bureau.
For many years, Melodie Z Scott held leadership positions within these organizations. The positions held by Melodie Z Scott range from secretary to president, legislative chair to conference chair. In 2007, Melodie Z Scott took on a new and equally, if not more important position. In 2007, Melodie Z Scott became a qualified educator and was one of three approved in the State of California.
Her position and experience made Melodie Z Scott the perfect individual to assist in designing a test licensing professional fiduciaries. As a member of the State of California Professional Fiduciary Bureau, Melodie Z Scott was part of an advisory committee for developing the required test for licensing professional fiduciaries, in accordance with the 2009 Business and Professions Code Chapter 6, Division 2. Melodie Z Scott worked on the committee to develop the test for licensure between 2007 and 2008.

When you work in a field long enough, and have held a number of important roles and positions, your name starts to become recognizable. Being recognized as a person in an industry can be rewarding but also stressful. The longer Melodie Z Scott worked in the fiduciary and conservator industry, the more knowledgeable and wise she grew about the field, and also about what needed to be done to ensure the professionalism of fiduciaries and conservators.
Melodie Z Scott served on the advisory committee to develop the required test for licensing professional fiduciaries for the State of California Professional Fiduciary Bureau. The committee had to ensure the test for licensure adhered to the 2009 Business and Professions Code. Melodie Z Scott served on the committee to develop the test between 2007 and 2008.
This was not the first time Melodie Z Scott worked on a committee to develop tests or requirements. Beginning in 1999 and continuing until 2009, Melodie Z Scott served on a committee to develop the professional fiduciary credential program for California State at Fullerton. During this decade of work, Melodie Z Scott served the committee for California State through the National Guardianship Foundation and the Professional Fiduciary Association of California.
Melodie Z Scott has held a number of important positions with several different organizations. Her earliest experiences in a leadership position were with the Professional Conservators of California organization, where she was a chartered member. However, Melodie Z Scott went above and beyond when she joined the Professional Conservators of California, Professional Fiduciary Association of California, and the National Guardianship Association. For over a decade, Melodie Z Scott was a charter member of the Professional Fiduciary Association of California or PFAC. Melodie Z Scott joined the association in 1996 and remained a member until 2009.
For several years, Melodie Z Scott was very active within the association. Melodie Z Scott’s first position within the Professional Fiduciary Association of California was as legislative chair and state vice president in 1998. In 1999, Melodie Z Scott served as PFAC’s president; she served as past president in 2000. After 2000, Melodie Z Scott served the organization as a regular member.
In 2004, Melodie Z Scott was recognized as a valuable member of the organization. Melodie Z Scott received the PFAC’s State Outstanding Service award and was named the National Guardian’s Associate 2004 Affiliate Member of the Year. Melodie Z Scott was honored with the recognition and was grateful her years of service were being recognized. After receiving her award and honor, Melodie Z Scott remained with the organization for an additional five years.
Melodie Z Scott is grateful people care enough to help others. Being appointed a guardian means a great deal of responsibility, and fiduciaries and conservators play an important role.
YMCA Board Member: Melodie Z Scott
Spending time at the YMCA also allowed Melodie Z Scott to see that it was not simply a gym. She began to see all of the other great things that the YMCA does for the community. She saw how much good it did for children who had nowhere else to go after they were finished with school. She began to appreciate the great influence that the YMCA had on these children. She also saw that without the YMCA, those same children might have been placed in dangerous situations instead. It was around this time that Melodie Z Scott decided that she wanted to do more for the YMCA. A position opened up which allowed her to become a Board Member. She was excited that she had the opportunity to get to work within the YMCA organization.
As a Board Member, Melodie Z Scott was responsible for a number of things such as developing the policies and other guidelines that would be included in the codes of conduct of the organization. Melodie Z Scott was responsible for helping the organization raise the funds needed for their daily operations. Finally, she was responsible for supporting the mission of the YMCA by representing the best interests of its guests and fellow members.
Melodie Z Scott enjoyed her duties as a Board Member of the YMCA; she received a great deal of joy by helping to improve the operations of the organization she grew to admire.
Fiduciary Work Called to Melodie Z Scott
There are a number of professions people join in life. Melodie Z Scott chose a career where she could care for people. Melodie Z Scott never served as a nurse, but she did spend years caring for people as a professional fiduciary. In this line of work, Melodie Z Scott was legally appointed to manage assets, make medical decisions, make placements, and when required, hire caregivers and virtually attend to every aspect of incapacitated children and adults.
When it comes to legally assigning fiduciaries, courts assign a person with integrity – a person who will serve their intended purpose. Melodie Z Scott spent years as a fiduciary, and also as a member of associations and organizations focused on the fiduciary line of work. The people who typically get assigned to fiduciaries are children and the elderly.
Melodie Z Scott knows there is a growing need for people in this field of work. With an aging population and less future caregivers, the need for trustworthy asset managers and skilled caregivers will only increase. Melodie Z Scott spent time between 2007 and 2008 developing the test for professional fiduciaries on an advisory committee for the State of California Professional Fiduciary Bureau.
