Background Information
Francisco Pizarro's parents never got married. Poor relatives of his mother raised the boy, who never learned to read. In 1502 Pizarro left for the West Indies, and lived there for a while.
Achievements
Pizarro discovered and overthrew the Inca empire of Peru. Pizarro executed the leader named Alamargo. He helped Vasco Nunez De Balboa discover the Pacific Ocean.
Impact on Life Today
He opened a way for Spain to colonize most of South America. He also founded the capital city of Peru, Lima.
Intresting Facts
Many of Spain's most famous conquistadors came from the same city as Pizarro which is Extremadura. When Pizarro died he was a wealthy nobleman with vast lands, wealth , and prestige and influence.
