Big picture

When students miss class...

If your child is going to be absent, please call it in to the attendance office. You can also email our Attendance Tech at sschmidt@hartdistrict.org.

We have students who are not showing up to the required live Zoom/Google Meets each period. Please understand that under SB98, schools must account for attendance and participation. By communicating with us, we can assist with technical issues and even the social-emotion issues that can affect student affect participation and attendance.

By calling in absences you also save us manpower as we are personally calling the homes of students who miss classes. And, you will not receive the attendance call if you let us know.

We thank you fro your partnership during this difficult time.

We are in need of some art supplies for our studnets taking art this semester. If you are able and willing, next time you are at Walmart, Target, or ordering from Amazon, purchasing even 1 of any of the following supplies will help:

#2 Pencils

Pencil Sharpeners

Fine tip sharpies

Regular sharpies

Pens (black ink)

Pens (black ink)

Markers (Crayola sets)

We will be collecting these supplies next week. Please drop off onto the table at the front office. We thank you in advance for your support and generosity!

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications - Help Increase Federal Funds for La Mesa

Did you know that students who qualify for Free and Reduced lunch helps us to receive federal funding for all sorts of programming. It is how we qualify to be a Title 1 School.

Our Title 1 Funds have supported the following at La Mesa:

  • An additional Counselor - Junior high schools in the Hart District are allocated 3 counselors. We have 4.
  • Technology Licenses - Our teachers and students have access to technology beyond what the Hart District can fund
  • Educational Field Trips - Our studnets have been able to attend field trips that otherwise would not have been possible.
  • Classroom Supplies - We have been able to provide classroom supplies that are often provided from donations had schools where their is a higher socio-economic population
  • Capturing Kids' Hearts Training - 100% of our teachers and most of our classified have participated in this vital training. We have been names a National Showcase School for two years in a row, and our campus is a much friendlier and safer place as a result of this training.
  • Professional Development to improve teacher instruction
  • And much, much more

Even if you do not plan to take advantage of the Free/Reduced Federal Lunch program, please take a few minutes to fill out this online form so that our numbers can be reflected accurately and the appropriate amount of funding can be applied to La Mesa.

By filling out the form you can also simultaneously apply for CalFresh, which provides money each month for groceries.
