Message from your Proud Principal

I love Thanksgiving; a holiday built upon gratitude! It is a time to reflect on the wealth of purpose we have. While we are thankful all the year through, I hope you find moments to appreciate all of what we have to be thankful for. I hope you find time to thank others who have enriched your life. Enjoy your much needed Thanksgiving Holiday with those you love.

by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

We ought to make the moments notes

Of happy, glad Thanksgiving;

The hours and days a silent phrase

Of music we are living.

And so the theme should swell and grow

As weeks and months pass o'er us,

And rise sublime at this good time,

A grand Thanksgiving chorus.

GCPS Hosts Vaccination Clinics

GCPS encourages our community to learn more about COVID-19 vaccinations and take advantage of opportunities to get vaccinated. In an ongoing partnership with the Gwinnett Health Department and other health partners, GCPS continues to host vaccination clinics at high schools around the county during November and December. No appointment is necessary. Participants will receive the Pfizer vaccine, which requires two shots. Those who are eligible for a booster shot and who completed their initial vaccine series (Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson) at least six months ago also may attend a vaccine clinic. This opportunity is available to anyone eligible for the vaccine, ages 12 and older. Students ages 12 to 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Interpreters will be on site. For more information on COVID vaccinations, go to the health department website.

The following schools will host vaccination clinics:

  • Parkview High School,
    Wed., Nov. 24, 2021, 3 p.m.-7 p.m.

  • Norcross High School
    Mon., Nov. 29, 2021, 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.

  • Meadowcreek High School
    December date TBD

  • Peachtree Ridge HS
    Mon., Dec. 6, 2021, 3 p.m.-7 p.m.

  • Brookwood High School
    Thurs., Dec. 2, 2021, 3 p.m.-7 p.m.

  • South Gwinnett High School
    Mon., Nov. 29, 2021, 3 p.m.-7 p.m.
    December date TBD

Schoolwide Reading Program: Biblionasium

Just a reminder that our Schoolwide Reading Program is in full force. We began in September, and it will continue through the end of March. Each student must have 2500 reading minutes entered by the end of March to qualify for the reading reward in May. Minutes must be entered in Biblionasium. There is a help video on Mrs. Britt's Media Center eCLASS page. We have a monthly competition among grade levels, and 4th grade won for the month of October for having the most minutes entered. They earned an extra book checkout for the month of November. What grade level will be the winner for November? We want all of our students at Parsons to enjoy reading for pleasure and develop a love for reading. Please encourage your student(s) to enter their minutes in Biblionasium each week. The parent letter from curriculum night is attached for further information. In addition, your student(s) can continue to participate in the reading programs offered at the Gwinnett County Public Library such as Grow Good Readers, Feed Your Brain, and the yearly Summer Reading Challenge using Beanstack.

Afternoon Transportation

All transportation changes must be made in writing. Whenever you need to make a change to your child's afternoon transportation plan, please complete an Afternoon Transportation Change Form in the front office no later than 12:00 PM the day of the change. We will utilize this form to create the appropriate afternoon transportation pass. Please remember the GCPS Bus Rule: no passes will be issued for play dates, birthdays, weekend sleepovers, etc. For security reasons, we DO NOT accept transportation changes through phone calls or emails.

Student Check Out

Anyone checking out a child must present photo identification and be listed in our system as someone able to have access to the student. If you need to make changes to your list of approved emergency contacts, you may make changes on the Parent Portal or stop by the office to update this information. As a reminder, students may NOT be checked out after 3:00 PM. For assistance in updating contact information on the Parent Portal, please visit
