As always, we ask that parents follow these guidelines during any curbside pick up.
1. Stay in your car. Wear a mask.
2. Pull up behind the car in front of you.
3. Open your passenger side front window and materials will be handed to you.
4. Pull away and move forward safely.
It would VERY helpful if you could provide the following on a piece of paper to hand to our staff:
- Student name(s)
- Grade(s)
- Teacher name(s)
Great news...Yearbooks will be included in your students packets!
iReady Diagnostic Fall 2020
The information is used to guide teacher instruction and helps your child's teacher identify areas of strength and weakness. This is why we need you to let your child do the work on their own.
As a parent myself, I know how difficult it is to stand by and watch your child struggle when they don't know the answer to something. When your child takes the iReady Diagnostic, he/she will not know all of the answers. THIS IS OK! We need you to let your child take this assessment completely on his/her own....Even if it means watching every question be answered incorrectly.
Please take some time to explore the information below. It's extremely important and we need you to be aware of what the iReady Diagnostic really is, what it will look like as it is administered at home, and how you can support us.
Testing sessions will be scheduled and directed by the teacher (during the school day). Multiple testing sessions will be scheduled for each subject (Math and Reading) over several days. In the coming week(s), teachers will spend time familiarizing students with the iReady site and preparing them to take the Diagnostic. Your child's teacher will provide a detailed testing schedule once they have determine dates and times.
Important Zoom Reminders
Zoom is not only a window into our classroom, it’s also a window into your home. Being mindful of what’s happening in and around the webcam is extremely important as we all strive for a safe, healthy, and rewarding online learning experience for our children.
Please be sure "adult" conversations and language cannot be heard by other classmates.
Teachers are working tirelessly to provide appropriate, engaging, and meaningful lessons. Please be mindful of the following tips when attending a Zoom lesson.
Reminders for Parents:
At no time should you take a screen shot of the video conference screen where other children are visible, and no images/videos should be posted on social media platforms.
Students are expected to maintain the same behavior and conduct during a video conference call as they would in the classroom. This is an extension of the regular classroom and school rules still apply.
It’s helpful if you keep the source of lighting in front or above the webcam. Avoid having a bright light or window behind you.
Progress slowly. Everyone is learning (including the adults) and it will take some time for everyone to adjust.
Be patient and forgiving with technology. It can be temperamental, "glitchy" and sometimes difficult to navigate so pause, breathe and keep this in perspective.
Remind all those living at the residence that the webcam will display those walking in the background and only school suitable activity and language should be used when the Zoom lesson is in session.
Teacher Absence/Substitute Teachers
On occasion, we know our teachers may need to be absent for various reasons including their own illness, illness of a family member, or to attend meetings, etc. In the event your child's teacher is absent for 1-2 days you can expect the following:
- Parents will be informed through email or Google Classroom
- Lessons will be assigned in Google Classroom
- Asynchronous lesson (pre recorded) links will be posted in Google Classroom for daily instruction
- Students will be required to submit a response to an assignment to validate attendance
- Students will attend FAPEs classes as schedule
Supporting Our Families at Home
Oakley Park Family Directory
Food Service
On August 31st, the USDA announced that they have extended free meals for all kids under the age of 18 to go through as late as December 31st regardless if they are an enrolled student or not. This is effective immediately and will undoubtedly help our community during these unprecedented times!
Regardless of this exciting announcement, we still need families to complete their free and reduced application. Having these applications completed will ensure a more smooth transition for families when the federal funds are depleted. You can complete the application by logging onto your family access and going to the registration packet.
Please join us every Monday at each of our high schools to pick up meals from 12:00PM - 1:30PM. If school is closed on Monday, we will be serving the next open school day.
