Summer Reading Camp

RPS has been selected as a Summer Reading Camp site. This year, Summer Reading Camps will serve students in 1-3 grades (grade they completed at the end of the 2015-2016 school year). Students in first and second grades who do not meet EOY benchmarks will be eligible to attend the Summer Reading Camp. Transportation will be provided as well as lunch. I will have permission forms for students who are eligible after the EOY benchmark window closes. We will need teachers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades.

There will be positions available for teachers and assistants. Please let me know if you have interest in working. I have an interest form that will need to be completed and turned in to Dr. Bulris by April 22.

Teachers applying to work the Summer Reading Camp must have a documented record of success in teaching reading. All teachers, including EC teachers are eligible.

Information for the Summer Reading Camp is below:

The Emotional Environment (TLIM page 76)

Students need to feel:

  1. Safe
  2. Accepted
  3. Successful (they are progressing)
  4. Appreciatied

Students begin to feel insecure if all 4 needs are not being met. Students have tremendous self-confidence when they feel all 4.

Are you building a positive emotional environment for your students?
