Nutrient Dense Foods!

Nutrient dense foods are foods that are healthy and have benefits to keep you healthy. For example here are some Nutrients...

Vitamins... things like orange juice, eggs, milk.

Minerals... dairy products like cottage cheese, yogurt, and broccoli and green vegetables.

Protein... is in these foods, meat, fish, milk, tofu, nuts, and seeds.

Natural sugars... something like fruits, milk, and honey.

Fiber... Brussels sprouts, peas, artichokes, lima beans, and many other leafy greens.

Healthy cholesterol... is in food like, oatmeal, oats, whole wheat.

Complex carbs and,

Omega 3 fatty acid... these items are in foods like fish and flaxseed

Empty Calorie Foods

Empty calorie foods on the other hand are foods with added sugars and fats to make them more appealing. These have a lot of calories. Empty calorie foods are things like cake, doughnuts, fried foods, ice cream, hot dogs, syrup, chips, fries. Empty calories don't give you any energy or fiber or anything like nutrient dense foods do so there is no need to eat them if they don't do anything for you.

So What Will You Choose?

So what option are you going to choose? The one that is beneficial for maintaining optimal health, or the poor food choice that contains more calories than nutrients. DON'T BE TEMPTED WITH THE EMPTY CALORIES, because they are not good for you because the labels can lie. For example this cereal label says there alot
