Epps Island Newsletter
We are a Tiger Family
Hello Epps Island Families and Happy April!
The last month of school will be a busy time. Third-fifth grade students are preparing for the big state assessments, STAAR. One way you can help is to ensure your children are reading at home, coming to tutoring and coming to school every day. Each day they miss, they'll miss valuable instruction that could effect their grade on STAAR.
Students in K-2nd will benefit a great deal by having an adult or sibling read to them for 20 minutes every day. This would help develop a solid foundation in reading that will set them up to be successful in school and in the state assessments beginning in third grade.
Finally, this issue contains a lot of information including details about how we're holding Field Day, Pre K and Kinder registration, how you can help with our last school fundraiser and more!

Field Day Pre-Registration
This year our Field Day will be different. We will have each grade level's Field Day on a different day from 1:55-3:15. Visitors will be allowed. However, to continue with our safety measures, masks will be required at all times and there will be a limited number of visitors per child. Only two adults will be allowed per student and only siblings under five. School age children will not be allowed as they need to be in school and we are limiting people in attendance.
Below are the dates and times for each grade level's Field Day as well as the Pre-Registration information:
Friday, May 21st- Kinder- 1:55pm-3:15pm
Monday, May 24- 2nd- 1:55pm-3:15pm
Tuesday, May 25- 5th- 1:55pm-3:15pm
Wednesday, May 26-4th-1:55pm-3:15pm
Thursday, May 27- 1st- 11:50am-1:10pm
3rd-1:55pm-3:15pm
Pre-registration - April 28--May 20th. Everyone is encouraged to pre-register to avoid standing in line the day of your child's Field Day beginning April 28-May 20th. We'll also have limited capacity in the office and we'll only allow 2 visitors at a time. Again, masks are still required in the office. Adults will need a valid ID or driver's license to pre-register. Paper copies or pictures of ID's on the cell phone will not be permitted.
Pre-registering will allow you to save time on the day of you child's Field Day and go straight to the gym to pick up your visitor's badge and start having fun with your child!
If you do not pre-register, you will need to report to the office the day of your child's Field Day to check in and pick up your visitor's badge. Please be patient if there is a long line as we can't control how fast our machine runs IDs.
