For The Week of January 18 through January 22
Administrators' Message
Hello Sandymount Families,
It’s hard to believe that the second marking period is coming to an end and our third marking period begins on Tuesday, February 2nd. If you would like to change your student’s learning status from all virtual to hybrid in-person learning with their cohort, email an administrator or the school at sesattendance@carrollk12.org. Please keep in mind that we need at least one-week notice to give teachers adequate time to plan for your student’s return.
Winter weather is definitely upon us! Please remind students to dress appropriately so that they are able to enjoy recess outside as often as possible. As you know, inclement weather could disrupt schedules. In the event of inclement weather on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, we will be reverting to our typical snow day policies. This means that should schools close on any of these days due to inclement weather, there will be no instruction and it will be considered a snow day. Should schools open 2 hours late due to inclement weather on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, instruction will begin 2 hours later than the usual start time. If we experience inclement weather on a Wednesday, when all students are scheduled to be in virtual learning, instruction will continue as planned. There will be no school delays or snow days on Wednesdays.
In closing, I am pleased to share that we have secured a teacher for our wonderful school. Mrs. Loretta Grieves, our certified permanent substitute, accepted the third grade teacher position at Sandymount. Please join me in permanently welcoming Mrs. Grieves to our Sandymount Elementary School family!
Have a great weekend!

PTA Meeting
Next PTA Meeting will be February 10th at 7pm using Google Meet link: https://meet.google.com/vzy-oazb-wyx.
During the February PTA meeting, the PTA will be holding a virtual election to appoint our new Vice Presidents, Heather Brown and Kristen Maszarose. We will also reconfirm the Secretary, Becky Murphy.
We are looking for all members to join us for this important election that has been postponed from last May 2020 due to Covid. We are now able to hold our election and look forward to confirming the appointments. If you have any questions, please reach out to the PTA at sandymountpta1@gmail.com.
