A Peek at Our Week

Reading: We will begin reading from our basal for the next few weeks and working on corresponding skills. The story for this week is Dogzilla. The comprehension skill is fantasy/realism, and the writing/grammar skill is possessive nouns. The comprehension test will be on Friday (open book). Feel free to take the book home to reread the story! We will also continue to work on "cold read" skills.

Math: We wrapped up with Topic 13, Fractions, before the break. Since this is a 4 day week, we will take this week to review all skills learned in Topic 13. Everyday we will go back and review important skills needed to master fractions and fractional parts. Most of the homework will be on IXL this week for math. Please make sure that a computer is available to do homework online. If this is a problem, please let me know so I can make alternative plans. We will have a quiz over fractions on a number line on Friday.

As always, multiplication facts need to be memorized. This will help majorly with fractions! Please continue to make this a priority a couple nights a week. This website is a fun way to practice your facts. http://www.oswego.org/ocsd-web/games/mathmagician/cathymath.html

Social Studies: We will begin Ch. 4, Democracy, in our Social Studies books. Remember, students are absolutely aloud to take their books home to review any content that was taught in class. We will have a quiz over lesson 1 on Thursday. All quizzes will be open book/open notes :)
