What was the change?
The way people viewed the world. More and more people started doubting traditional views and beliefs thought to be true.
Who were the people associated with the change?
Galileo Galilei
He was an Italian math professor who set out to prove many of Aristotle's theories about nature wrong. He used the telescope to study sunspots, the moon's surface , and Jupiter's moon. He refused to stop his research. Finally, when the church threatened to torture him, he signed a confession stating that the heliocentric model was heresy and therefore untrue. So he was locked in his house until he died.
Nicolaus Copernicus
Copernicus was a Polish astronomer. He stated that the geocentric model didn't explain movements of the sun, moon, and planets. After studying this problem for 30 years, he proposed a new model for the universe
Sir Issac Newton
Made law of universal gravitation: every object in the universe attracts to every other object. He believed that God was the creator of this orderly universe.
How did the change impact society at the time?
It made the church lose power. It also made some people doubt and question their traditional teachings. Most of the theories produced in this time go against Catholic and Protestant churches.
How is that change evidenced in today's modern society?
Because even today there are different theories on how we came to be. There is science, and there is "God's" way of our creation.
