Friday Family Message
Hello Students
Memorial Day weekend is a wonderful time to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with friends and family — but the holiday has a deeper meaning. We remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.
Thank you to our middle school students and community volunteers who helped place 450 American flags in Anderson Cemetery in Stanwood. It helps us all to remember.
I am reminded of the words of Harry S. Truman: “Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices.”
Graduation season is here
Earlier this week, Stanwood High School presented 160 awards during its annual Celebration of Excellence event.
All school departments honored students in a wide range of disciplines — from math to woodworking to music and much more.
The Celebration of Excellence concluded by introducing the salutatorian Owen Thayer and the school-record 17 valedictorians: Cezanne DePew, Ethan Eichler, Mason Ferguson, Magdalen Flickner, Henry Hannawalt, Madeline Husser, Ella Jung, Lindsey Khoury, Ana Marriott, MacAuley Martin, Keaton Mayernik, Lane Ovenell, Grady Roberts, Robert Schmidt, Cameron Smythe, Lael ten Hoopen and Quinn Weller.
About 280 Stanwood High School seniors will graduate during the June 9 ceremony at Bob Larson Stadium. Tickets are required to enter the 7 p.m. commencement.
About 35 Lincoln Hill High School seniors will graduate during the June 13 ceremony in the Performing Arts Center at Stanwood High School. Admission is free for family and friends for the 6 p.m. commencement.
New elementary school next year? Let's visit the school!
Help us spread the word! Each elementary school is hosting a fun-filled open house from 5-6 p.m. June 12 for students and families who will be new to their school this fall.
You can explore their building, meet the staff, and register for kindergarten in-person. Students can also get their photo taken with their school mascot!
Or you can register your student at any time at www.stanwood.wednet.edu/welcome.
Free Summer Meals Program available in July and August
Good nutrition is essential for effective learning every day — all year long. Just as learning does not end when school lets out, neither does the need for good nutrition.
Summer meal programs help children get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow throughout the summer months.
We are again offering our free Summer Food Service Program for all children ages 18 and younger.
The program is open to all families and doesn’t ask for any paperwork — kids can just drop in and grab a meal.

- Dates: July 5 - August 25
