News from Spanish Class!
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the students in the eighth grade Spanish classes created a presentation by researching notable Hispanic Americans such as singer/entertainer Selena, boxer Oscar de la Hoya and NASA astronaut Ellen Ochoa. Hispanic Heritage Month or Mes de la Herencia Hispana is celebrated in the United States from September 15th to October 15th. This celebration is a recognition of the contributions that Hispanic Americans have made in the United States.

News from the Library- Constitution Week
Constitution Week was recognized in social studies classes September 17-23 to promote our Constitution and Bill of Rights documents that established our government and freedoms. Librarian Mrs.Yerkes also used that week to educate her library classes and focused on the first amendment in the Bill of Rights. In eighth grade classes, after reviewing the first amendment rights and watching a video, students applied that knowledge and were assigned a person in history who exercised their first amendment freedoms to stand up for something they were unhappy about. Students read online biographies and created a “padlet” like those featured here to recognize the use of first amendment rights.
