Cheese Doodles
Wally S. 73375
Cheese doodles, or cheese puffs, were invented in the United States in the 1930s when Edward Wilson and Clarence J. Schwebke of the Flakall Corporation of Beliot deep fried and salted puffed corn and later added cheese. In 1939 they patented the product, named Korn Kurls. These scrumptious snacks are puffed corn coated with a layer of cheese or cheese flavored powder. It is also said that this scrumptious snack was invented at a different occurrence. The Elmer Candy Corporation of New Orleans, Louisiana supposedly held a contest in 1936 to give this product a name. The winning name "CheesWees" is still used today by Elmer's Fine Food.
