2023 Regional Teacher of the Year
A note from Jeff Lunt, Principal at Franklin: In two words, the reason why Jennifer Proiette was nominated for Teacher of the Year is that “she rocks!”
Mrs. Proiette was nominated by a former student’s parent, who realized the amount of time, energy, and love Mrs. Proiette puts into her class and students’ lives. She knows how to get the most out of her students to assist them in reaching their potential. Anyone who has seen Mrs. Proiette teach recognizes that she is a whirlwind of enthusiasm and “quiet” is probably the last word to describe her, but as a leader, she is just that. She quietly leads and sets an example for others.
As a teammate, she is always there for her kindergarten teaching team. She looks for ways to improve her practice and constantly communicates with her team about what is working and what can be improved. As a result, the kindergarten team is continually refining and coming up with new and innovative ways to meet the needs of students.
Mrs. Proiette is extremely humble, and recognition is probably the last thing she wants, but she is extremely deserving to be chosen as the Washington State OESD 114 Regional Teacher of the Year.

Where are you from? Spokane, WA
Favorite thing about your job? Getting to know the children and families that I work with.
Anything you'd like to share about your family? I am married to a teacher, Alan Caverly, and we have two awesome kids, Arlo (7) and Juniper (2).
Do you have any hobbies? I love to spend time outside! Sunbathing is my true love, but I also enjoy paddle boarding, hiking, and jogging. I also have the travel bug and will take the opportunity to go anywhere new as often as possible. While not a musician myself, I have a deep love for music, so live shows/concerts are one of my happy places.
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be? Travel somewhere warm and sunny new to me with my husband and kids.
What is your goal for this year? To best support the already incredible learning environment at Roosevelt Elementary.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Navigating what it's like to live with a 17 and 12-year-old.
One fun fact that most people don’t know about you: I once taught EFL in South Korea.
Anything else you'd like to share with your co-workers? I am thrilled to be back in the Port Angeles School District!
