SLPHS Families,
As we return from a long weekend, I am hopeful families and staff had the opportunity to recharge with the extra day with loved ones. As I got around the building yesterday, students and staff were right back at it engaging in learning and glad to be in school. We are working hard to keep that our reality and appreciate your understanding and support.
This week, we are continuing to successfully match SLP staff from across the district with opportunities to fill needs we are experiencing due to higher staff absences. We’re grateful to have a team – at the high school and across the district – that is supporting in-person learning. We all also appreciate the collective efforts of our community to do everything we can to provide a safe place for students to learn and teachers to teach.
As this latest surge of COVID-19 continues and hopefully peaks very soon, there is no perfect solution that meets every need. We remain committed to doing everything we can to keep the high school open so students can engage directly with teachers to learn and have access to essentials like nutritious meals.
Registration for 2022-2023
Course registration for next year is right around the corner. Registration materials for next year are being updated this week at SpringLakeParkSchools.org/HSRegistration. This includes an interactive course catalog. Students have the next several weeks to plan and explore.
As a reminder, registration opens January 31 and closes February 23. On January 31, a full registration guide will be available on the website.
Mark your calendar: Online learning February 7
As we did two years ago, we host the Northwest Suburban Music Festival on February 7. This is an amazing experience for our musicians and a fantastic collaboration with our local partners. Learn more about it on the Northwest Music Festival website.
- Monday, February 7, 2022, will be a distance learning day for high school students because of the size and scope of this event in our school building. Students will work from home on assignments and learning tasks that will post on Schoology. Our staff will be available online and via phone to support earning. High school bus transportation will not run that day.
In the community
Finally for this week, I want to highlight engagement in our community. Last week, students in the Marketing and Entrepreneurship class and a handful of others took part in a Northtown Redevelopment Stakeholder Input session. Facilitators gathered their ideas and insights as community members and consumers on the redevelopment of the Northtown Mall area.
Our students fully engaged in the process and shared some great insights with architects, developers, and engineers from the City of Blaine. I was proud of our students and fascinated by some of their ideas for redeveloping the Northtown/County Road 10 corridor.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. One school, one community #SLPPantherProud.
