11/18: Field Day Friday Early Release
This week will be celebrating Generation Texas Week, a statewide movement to ensure students have the information and resources regarding post-secondary options such as college, career, and military. We have a spirit theme for each day this week concluding with our color war on Friday's Field Day. In Advisory students who dress up for the day's theme will receive a ticket to put in the class jar. The class with the most tickets in the jar at the end of the week will receive ice cream on Field Day.
The Booster Club will be selling Class shirts for $20 before school and during advisory in the hallway by the main entrance of building 9. There are limited number of shirts available, so be sure to get yours early to have it in time to wear on Friday's Field Day

Emoji Drug Code
The TEA has recently alerted school leaders that there may be a dual meaning behind certain emojis used by drug traffickers to advertise and sell counterfeit pills and other illicit drugs through texts and on social media. As you monitor your student's communication we wanted you to be aware of these possible dual meanings of emojis. Please review the attached Reference Guide.
Why is My Totally Likable Teen Struggling to Keep Friends?
A mom of a totally likeable, down-to-Earth kid calls the school counseling office, worried. “My daughter’s friends seem to be ditching her,” the mom tells me. “She sees photos on Snapchat and Instagram of their parties, but she’s not invited to any of them. I don’t know whether to be mad at her friends or worried that my daughter is doing something to push them away.” The teen in question is a sophomore in high school, and, from the adult perspective, she’s a superstar: responsible, upstanding, empathetic, funny, sharp–the type of kid I would have hired in a hot minute to babysit my own children when they were younger. But even with all she has going for her, this kid is struggling socially. What might be going on?
