CCSD Week At A Glance
The Colleton County School District may have had a short week this week but we certainly had a lot going on! Let's take a glance at our week here in the District.
Superintendent For A Day
Christian Edwards an 8th grade student at Colleton County Middle School spent the day with Dr. Cave on Tuesday, February 21st learning what it takes to be a Superintendent of Schools. Christian expressed his interest in shadowing Dr. Cave in a letter to which Dr. Cave happily agreed. Christian would like to be a Superintendent one day and he is learning from The Best!

CCHS Seniors Presented Laptops from Namaste Charleston
Namaste Charleston is 700 member non-profit organization that was started during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Their focus is "Extending Wellness to Others" . They chose 10 Colleton County High School Seniors as recipients of a new laptop in an effort to help expand their futures.
FFA Appreciation Breakfast
In honor of National Future Farmers of America the Colleton FFA Chapter at TCTC hosted an appreciation breakfast prepared by the Colleton FFA members.
We thank Mr. and Mrs. Lutton as well as our students for a delicious meal!
Marshmallow Challenge
Mrs. Cochran's CCHS Business Education Class participated in The Marshmallow Challenge this week. The Marshmallow Challenge is a team-building activity in which teams compete to build the tallest free-standing structure out of 20 sticks of spaghetti, one yard of tape, one yard of string and one marshmallow. It emphasizes group communication, leadership dynamics, collaboration, innovation and problem solving strategy.
CCSD Celebrates Black History Month
Bells Elementary School held the African American Read-In on Friday , February 24th. Many of our CCSD District Office Staff along with members of our Community participated in promoting literacy while honoring prominent African Americans.
"Remembering the Past, Celebrating the Present, Embracing the Future" was the theme for Black Street Early Childhood Center's Black History Month Program. Mr. Hiram EM Davis, the music instructor coordinated this year's program. Minister Anna Stevens Bright served as Mistress of Ceremony.

Assistant Principals Professional Development Session
Our Assistant Principals attended a Professional Development Session this week with Dr. Cave. Topics included the Essential Behaviors of an Effective Assistant Principal, Leadership Feedback and Student Voice. The Assistant Principals meet with Dr. Cave several times a year to focus on leadership skills.

2023-2024 Modified School Calendar
The Colleton County School District Board of Trustees approved the 2023-2024 Modified School Calendar at the February 21st School Board Meeting. Take a look below to see it. The calendar can also be found on our website, www.colleton.k12.sc.us or by clicking the link below.
February is Children's Dental Health Month
Health Promotion Specialists provide preventative oral health services and referrals to the students in the Colleton County School District. Dental health services are provided to students eligible for Medicaid and private health insurance. All services provided require written parental consent.
These services are part of a comprehensive prevention program and generally include dental hygiene assessments, caries risk assessments, oral prophylaxis, and the application of fluorides. This service is offered yearly.
