Key Building Deadlines

- Monday December 18, 2017 by 4:00 p.m. If a parent receives more than one TT acceptance, the parent should make a decision about which school their child should attend. Ann White will help with this.

Linda Lemmon Celebrating 25+ Years of Service to SPS
Linda started working for Springfield Public Schools as a lunchroom aid, and from there worked in SPS school kitchens. She remarks that back in those days, everything served to students in the cafeteria was made from scratch. She smiled as she remembered most foods and baked goods started with lots of butter.
She was assigned to Truman Elementary and then later at Weaver Elementary nutrition services staff. During this time, Linda realized computer skills would be necessary to keep up with technologies being used all over the district. While taking courses at OTC, a friend informed her of an opening in the Records Office. After interviewing with Dr. Janice Duncan, Linda's world moved from cooking to record keeping.
The original Records Office for the district was housed in the Kraft Administrative Building at 940 N. Jefferson. As Linda recalls, it was filled to the brim with filing cabinets, some stacked upwards to six feet. People had to get a step stool to see into the top drawers.
Linda has seen lots of progress to electronic records, and systematic electronic archival of records. She enjoys coming to work everyday and feels blessed to work with such a wonderful team of people. in the Records Office. Actually, we are the fortunate ones to work with such a lovely person as Linda Lemmon.

Plus, I just learned in my technology training how to do this, and was excited to share my new skills.
SPS Volunteer Program
We have 78 volunteers across the district who are eligible for a VIP ID badge that has their own picture on it complete with a VIP lanyard. We are thrilled we have so many dedicated individuals who are making a big difference in the buildings where they volunteer. In this season of giving, their efforts are celebrated.
Thank you, too, to the Site Volunteer Coordinators who keep track of and provide our staff information about volunteers and what they can do for their school.
Please note below the 6317 hours and 30 minutes logged by our site volunteers. Last year at this same time, we only had 2946 hours logged. This is more than doubled. Be sure to thank your volunteers the next time you see them.
Site Volunteer Coordinators will be receiving their individual building volunteer hour data next week.
Reflection and Appreciation
Sincerely, Linda, Peggy, Amy, Brenda and Ann
