Another great week in STEM! Keep reading to find out more about what our Face to Face and Innovative Learners have been working on this week.
GREAT NEWS! STEM is now accepting recycled materials! Our students often create and build models to show their creative approaches to problem solving. In order to keep students building, STEM could use your help! Recycled material donations will be sanitized before use. Examples of recycled materials we may use include…
Cardboard
Index Cards
Paper Towel Rolls
Craft Fabric
Magazines/Books/Newspaper
Tape (all kinds!)
Any other recycled materials or donations are graciously accepted!
All materials will be sanitized before use. A full list of materials can be found in the STEM section of the Special’s Handbook.
STEM Face to Face Learners
This week in STEM, our face to face learners in Kinder-2nd Grade were introduced to the concept of STEM and learned what STEM stands for. We discussed examples of what Engineers could create, and practiced the Engineering Design Cycle. We look forward to building together next week! Our 3rd grade-5th grade face to face learners also learned about the Engineering Design Process by practicing each step as if they were hired by Walt Disney World to create a new theme park ride. What fun!
STEM Innovative Learners
This week in STEM, our Innovative Learners in Kinder-1st grade were introduced to the concept of STEM, and learned about what it means to be an Engineer, or Maker! Students practiced the steps of the Engineering Design Cycle and were able to imagine and plan their own boats or bridges! For 2nd grade - 5th grade, students completed the “STEM Island” activity after learning about the Engineering Design Cycle. Students were able to explore each engineering step, which will come in handy when we start building next week!
Families, please remember to read the Specials Handbook and complete the Specials Contract! This is a student grade!
